Chapter 9

After what happened that night, (Y/N) did not know how to face Levi. Whenever she remembered the kiss in the car, her face turned red as if it wanted to explode. She tried all her best to avoid seeing him. In the house, she would be the one who left to work early after making breakfast.

She thought it would be okay if she was in the office but turned out it was the month where her department was the next department for Levi to have to visit. However, the girl was quick to find her escape whenever Levi came.

One night while she was about to go to her room, Levi had came back from work. (Y/N) was surprised because he would never came back early.

"W-welcome back," she stuttered as she greeted him and wanted to leave the living room but Levi grabbed her hand.

"Brat, you are escaping from me ever since that night," he told her.

"I'm not," she lied.

"Tch, really? Then why are you always leaving the house so early in the morning and not in your department when I went there to monitor?" Levi shot her back.

"Well, it was wrong timing so it can't be helped," (Y/N) tried to find excuse with her trembling voice.

Of course, Levi knew she was lying. He made her faced him and was about to give her a kiss.

"D-dont," she pleaded.

Suddenly the door bell rang. Both startled. (Y/N) let go a relief sighed making Levi glanced at her and she gulped. Quickly, she moved away from his arm and opened the door. It was Kuchel. She looked so worried.

"I bring you bad news," Kuchel said.

Levi and (Y/N) looked at each other.

"Our family is going to have a gathering at Kenny's mansion," she told them.

"Is it about our marriage?" Levi asked.

Kuchel nodded.

"The Ackermans' wanted to see (Y/N). I'm afraid they will make her in trouble."

"When is the gathering?"

"Tomorrow evening. (Y/N), I know this is too sudden for you but I hope you will be doing fine tomorrow," Kuchel said.

(Y/N) nodded even though she was confused about the family gathering and why it would be a trouble for her. She was wondering about it as Levi and Kuchel discussed about the gathering. When the mother left, Levi sighed as he leaned back on the sofa with his eyes closed. (Y/N) sat beside him.

"Is the family gathering that bothersome?" she genuinely asked him.

Levi's steel grey eyes met her (E/C) eyes.

"When mother mentioned Ackerman, it means all members are going to be there and me getting married is something very important to them, not in a good way," he answered.

(Y/N) let him continued.

"Even though we all bring the Ackerman name, we are not blood related and there are some who are envy with one's successful life. They will try anything to crush it, no matter what."

"You mean they are against you?"

"You have no idea what it feels like being an Ackerman. Look, you should go to sleep now. Tomorrow's going to be a hectic day," Levi told her and (Y/N) obediently listened to him and went to her room.

On the day of the gathering, Levi and (Y/N) went to Kenny's mansion. It was a very big place making the girl nervous as they entered. There was a garden with gazebo and fountain in it at one section of the mansion.
