The sound of Amanda's heels clicking on the tile floor echoed around the house. It was gigantic.
"You like it?" Amanda questioned, grabbing my knife from her pocket and twirling it around with her fingers.
"I'm speechless."
It first started with the front door. A polished mahogany frame with a glass square in the middle. It let you look inside, only a peek, of this gigantic mansion.
When you take your first step into the home, you look forwards and see this large staircase going up to this hallway of rooms. You could see that there were 5 rooms, one of them that was the second to the left end had a door that had signs pasted all over. Some were warnings about toxins inside, and even one stating 'DON'T COME IN - RECORDING'. The rest of the door were bland, except for the one in the second from the far right end, which had a piece of paper that had the name Amanda written in fancy red lettering.
On the right of the staircase was the kitchen, and on the left was the living room, where there was a huge flat screen tv along with many gaming consoles under it.
The middle of it all was the beige diamond shaped tile floor. There was a golden chandelier on the top of the roof, with silver water droplet crystals handing down.
Amanda walked in front of me, face to face and waved her hands in front of my eyes.
"You hoo! Anybody in there?" Amanda smiled. The red head walked towards the kitchen, the pocket knife in her hand. She opened one of the drawers under the island in the middle, and tossed in the knife. She slammed it shut and walked over to the living room.
"Ey, sweet cheeks, want a bite or something like that? You thirsty? Would you like me to get you anything?" She asked as she picked up various gaming controllers and put them away.
"Whose room is that?"
Amanda stopped frozen. She stared at my pointed finger and followed it to the door with all of the signs. "Oh, that's just Ryan's room."
"Ryan's?" I asked.
Amanda looked at me dumbfounded. She quickly face palmed before going back to cleaning.
"I'm sorry, go up and say hi to him. He's the guy who I'm living with. Your new room mate."
I slowly walked up the stairs, engulfing my surroundings. I looked at the door for a minute, before hearing a voice. It sounded like he was talking to someone, It sounded as if he was talking to many people. The other voices were muffled up by laughing and sarcastic commentary by the man who was supposedly my new room mate.
I opened the door just a crack, so I could see and hear the conversations.
"This month- or this months Cosmo, spice up your sex life by bringing blank into the bedroom." One dark, low voice muttered. I heard a loud laugh followed by hysterical chuckles and giggles by Ryan.
"Here we go."
"Watch it just be really shitty."
"HOLY SHIT!" Ryan yelled before breaking down with another fit of laughs. "Holy shit, oh god. Okay. Okay. Go for it."
There was a small pause before a loud sigh, and more laughing from Ryan.
"Read it out." I posh woman said, followed by a bunch of giggles from the rest of the group.
"This months Cosmo, spice up your sex life by bringing a -"
"Ryan?"
The group suddenly got quiet, just for a moment before the group went on with the conversation. The man who's face was stuck to the computer screen pressed a button on the back of his mic.
He sighed and let his head droop for a moment before slowly turning his head towards me, commenting "Gee, Amanda, haven't I told you to -"
A brown haired man stared through the crack in the door with his hazel eyes, which muttered, "Who the hell are you?" with scrunched up eyebrows. They had a hint of curiosity in them.
"Wh-who?" He started. He suddenly got up and walked towards me. I backed away as he threw the door open and ran down stairs, constantly yelling "AMANDA!"
I tip-toed into his room and looked at the screen. It was a round table with cards all around, reminding me of poker, but without the chips.
"Hey Cry! You back yet?"
Cry?
I saw the room around me go pitch black, and I was left alone. It felt as if the air in the room was fading away, and that the air was closing around me. I held my throat, in desperate attempt to breath before the room turned to normal. I gasped and coughed, getting air into my lungs.
That was the first time I've had something happen to me like that. I was scared, but in the end I shook my head, and continued looking around.
The group noticed the silence and went back to picking cards. I scanned the room, seeing posters of various video games like Far Cry and F.E.A.R.
The bed was clumsily made, and his computer set was squished to the left middle wall. Next to the set, there was a white poker face mask, stained with an expressionless face. I picked it up, examining it all over, and put in back down.
I heard Amanda call my name, and I quickly rushed out of the room. I ran down the stairs to where I was met by Ryan and Amanda.
"Yes?" I questioned.
"Who is this Amanda? Your girlfriend?" Ryan sarcastically spat. "Or is it one of those homeless people you let in the house for a drink of water? Oh, here, let me get you a bowl."
"Ryan." Amanda put her arm in front of Ryan, stopping him. "Let me introduce you two. Ryan, this is Natoma. Natoma, this is Ryan."
There was a pause, and I wanted to break the silence, but nothing came out but the words Cry. I don't know why I said it. It came out, even though I don't even know what it was.
Ryan turned his head towards me, his jaw gaped. His eyes quickly turned hostile, and he turned his back towards me, walking back up the stairs. He look down at me from the top, and pointed at the door.
"I don't care who you are, you are NEVER coming into this room... AGAIN!" Ryan quickly slammed the door with frustration. I looked at Amanda's eyes, which were full of pity.
