Jeez, it's been a long time since I wrote for this. Almost forgot it existed. I couldn't use my school laptop but I graduated and got my own for a grad gift! Woop! That was stupid. Anyhow, I am on quarantine still, but am actually pretty busy and dealing with some pretty rough family stuff.
Also just to get this out there: I do not agree with the statements that J.K. Rowling has made regarding the trans community. While I love the books and movies and they saved me during a truly dark time in my life, I cannot condone what Rowling's remarks. As of now, my position is that Daniel Radcliffe and Darren Criss teamed up to write the books.
Regarding Black Lives Matter: I stand with the black community. While I am not black and accept that I will never understand the struggles of the black community and the horrors that are too often faced, I have been doing my absolute best to educate myself and utilize my privilege to elevate their voices.
This is a sort of follow up to Unexpected Help, but it can be read on its own.
Also, I am basically out of ideas at this point, so please feel free to drop an idea in the comments.
HARRY
After the demigods had introduced themselves and sufficiently blown the minds of most of the witches and wizards, everybody sat down to eat, talking amongst themselves as they did so. The demigods gathered around a small bronze dish and burnt small portions of their meals, murmuring as they dropped various parts of their meals.
"What is the purpose behind burning food?" Ron asked, looking truly horrified at the notion of food being put somewhere other than a stomach (preferably his).
"Oh, we have to sacrifice a part of our meal to the gods so we don't get smited." Percy said this with the attitude of someone mentioning that they went to the grocery store for milk.
"They wouldn't actually smite children, would they?" Mrs. Weasley questioned, horror clearly written all over her face.
"Nope, they really wouldn't have much of a problem with it." Percy remarked casually. "Although we're kind of special cases, because our parents are kind of fond of us and we've saved the world...more times than I can remember at this point."
Annabeth nodded in agreement, "If any of the gods smited us for something as minor as not burning food on a quest, that would result in a very loud battle."
This ominous remark seemingly had no effect on the rest of the demigods, who continued to eat their food and poke each other with varying degrees of ferocity. Nico looked downright murderous when Leo jabbed him with a bread roll, and retaliated by whacking him over the head with a spoon.
The chatter continued as they ate, until Sirius paused, looking at the newcomers with a curious expression on his face.
He then inquired, "Do you have any idea what Dumbledore brought you here to do?"
Jason paused while devouring his bowl of soup. "Nope. We got called into the Big House by our trainer, who just said 'wizards are real, go help them' and then the Dumbledore guy transported us here."
Lupin frowned. "That's an odd course of action."
Mr.Weasley nodded in agreement. "I thought he would've mentioned what you were going into before you came."
Percy just shrugged. "This is better than what we usually get. Usually, it's a prophecy about imminent death and no real help from anyone other than the general advice of not dying."
"Prophecy?" Sirius asked, his gaze darkening as his eyes flitted over the demigods.
"Oh yeah, we've only gotten two big ones, both about the world ceasing to exist if we didn't succeed in a mission that was in no way outlined within it." Leo said.
