I was just around the corner, knowing that I was nearing the school as its walls of faded color and veins that stretched for miles came into view. Some people may say that the school looks hideous in the way that it has been kept but I beg to differ. I think our school seems more vintage and elegant than most schools. So what if it wasn't really that modernized, it still served its purpose. A purpose that some other schools failed to achieve, educating students with their well-being in mind. It also a school that has been here since my parents were 14 Its the very first place they met and I cherish to this day. My day dreams sometimes sweep me up from reality for far too long, and that's not always a good thing. I realize that when foolish things happen because of me...Take the incident that just happened for an example. I just crashed into two of the most popular kids in school, Nile Vernon and Lynne Floyd. To make matters worse, they are completely drenched in strawberry milk curtsy of me, the biggest klutz in the world. " Oh my god. I'm so sorry. I wasn't really paying attention but I didn't think it would get me into such big of a mess Oh what do I do?" "Slow down You don't need to panic. Its seriously not your fault, we were the ones that crashed into you", Nile said as he tried to calm me down. "But you guys are going to get into so much trouble because of me" "Its definitely nothing that could ruin our reputation, besides we needed a wakeup call to stop us from running around like a bunch of fools", Lynne added as she grinned from ear to ear. "You guys are something else. Its not every day that you see such popular people being nice to others" "Its what we do Anyways, well see you around", replied Nile. "Yeah, well see you. We have to make a dash for our club room to get some extra clothes before any of the teachers see us like this. Bye then", added Lynne as she started sprinting of with Nile closely behind her. They are way too kind, no wonder they're known as the angels of the school.

I walked to class by myself as I looked around at my peers. I envied them, the ones that could get along with practically any one. It would be nice for me to experience the same feeling but I'm happy enough with just one friend, Scarlet Evans. She's been my best friend since I was a toddler. We would do everything together You could say we were inseparable. Too bad though, these days she seemed far more distant than I've remembered. She doesn't talk to me as much let alone look at me. I still love her to pieces since she's my only friend but it isn't the same as it used to be. I sigh as I walked into my classroom, the chatter of the students completely drowning out my thoughts. I walk over to my seat at the back of the classroom, completely avoiding eye contact with everyone. I sat down and looked around the room, desperately searching for Scarlet I finally found her sitting with the popular girls at the front of the class. She usually always sits beside me, so I was a bit dumbfounded to see her there. My mind was racing as I contemplated whether I should question her about it or not. I worked up the courage and got out of my seat My destination was clear but with each step that I took my thoughts were getting wilder and my heart, heavier. "Scarlet, we need to talk. Why are you avoiding me so much lately?" "Rose, I adore you so much but you have to understand that I want to experience something new. I cant always be with you I have a chance to be popular so don't mess this up for me just because you cant", Scarlet replied, her tone harsh but a hint of sympathy still visible in her eyes. "Its just that you've been my only friend all my life. You don't have to be with me all the time but instead you could still stay friends with me." Silence There was nothing but silence. Scarlet looked at her new friends and then looked back at me. She looked confused and seemed like she didn't know what to do. 'Scarlet, please don't leave me too." "I've had enough of this Scarlet needs people like us as her friends, people that actually matter. She doesn't need some attention deprived lowlife as her friend", interpreted Olivia Gray, the biggest snob in this entire school. "What did you just say to me? You think I'm seeking attention from her?" "If that's not it that what else do you want her for? Don't tell me you're only friends with her for her money. After all, everyone knows that your dad died and your mom turned into an over obsessive alcoholic," Emily Scott, another mean popular girl chimed in. "What did you just say to me!" I was mad I was so mad that I couldn't even control my emotions. I grabbed Emily by the collar and pulled her upwards making sure she felt the pain that I was feeling now. "What are you doing?! Have you gone crazy?" Scarlet screamed as she pushed me away in an attempt to save her so called friends. "So now you're choosing them over your best friend? You were never really my friend were you? You were only using me to make yourself look good and now that you've achieved that, you think you can just throw me to the side like that? I shouldn't have expected anything different from you. All rich people are the same, thinking they can walk over people who are less superior to them. I couldnt control myself I couldnt hold it back. Scarlet, I'm-"

SLAP

My face was burning with pain and I could tell that it would leave a mark. "You don't know me anymore, Rose. I've decided that you're a horrible and annoying person that only knows how to cling onto others who are better than you. You think Im using you? Look in the mirror, Rose Youre no better than me. Its like Emily and Olivia said, you only want me for my money. You only want me to help solve your problems Youre just as selfish and I dont want to be involved with someone as cruel as you, "Scarlet screamed back, tears rolling down her eyes. Her mascara was smudged everywhere and her cheeks were stained black. "Come here, you poor thing. Lets get you to a toilet so you can fix yourself up,"Olivia said as she guided Scarlet out of the classroom. Emily gave me one last cold stare before trailing behind them. Thats it, she finally decided to leave me. Now Im all alone, again A part of me wanted to drop my ego and rush after her, to plead for forgiveness. I took a step attempting to reach for the door. She doesnt know when to give up does she. I heard she forced Scarlet to be her friend. People like her are no good gold diggers. Scarlet deserves more respect if she was able to stand being her friend for this long. I would have kicked her to the curb a long time ago. Theyre talking about me as if Im not here. They hated me from the start but now I defiantly made it worse. "Its as expected from someone of her social status." "This is what happens when you give out scholarships to people of lower class." "All of you are wrong This has nothing to do with social status! Im not taking advantage of any one. I just want my best friend back." "As if Scarlet would want you back after all the pain you put her through. People like you can never fit in with people like us, so stay in your lane or better yet, just disappear already." It hurt so much to hear this coming from the people who used to hang out with me. Its funny how some peoples opinions can change depending on their leader and in my class, that leader is Scarlet. I have officially made my school life a living hell hole. I walk back to my seat, successfully avoiding everyones glares. I bury my face into my hands silently wishing they would stop paying attention to me. Lucky me that my wish came true, 5 minutes later they were chatting away as if the incident that just occurred didnt even happen. It was a good thing for me because I was able to cry without anyone noticing.

The school bell rang not to long after. I managed to compose myself just fine and I could say the same for Scarlet and her group of friends. All the kids rushed back to their seats, patiently waiting to see our favorite homeroom teacher, Miss Caroline. Shes remarkably sweet and would do anything to defend us if we got into trouble. She was also a very beautiful women considering that shes already 30. At least she could brighten up my day again. We waited and waited, wondering what was taking so long for her to get here. After all she has a perfect record of never being late to class, not even once. Just when I was about to lose hope, our classroom door swung open and in came Miss Caroline humming a happy tune. She seemed to be in an extremely joyful mood. I wonder why? "Good morning, kids. I hope you all missed me because I defiantly missed all of you," she said grinning. "Of course we did, Miss. You are our favorite teacher after all," Scarlet replied as the others nodded in agreement. "You guys flatter me too much. Before we start todays roll call, I have some wonderful news for everyone. We have a new transfer student with us today," she said as she joyfully clapped her hands. She looked out the door and signaled for someone to come in. "Everyone, this is Nathaniel Woods. He just moved here from New York a few days ago. I hope all of you treat him with hospitality," Miss Caroline said as she gestured to the person beside her.

I dont believe what Im seeing. Its him again The boy from the store The boy that constantly appeared in my dreams. Once again hes standing right in front of me. "No way, I cant believe what Im seeing Its you again! "
