KARMA'S POV
The next morning, when I saw Nagisa, I was unable to fully express myself like when I wore a red mask. Without the mask, I didn't possess the confidence to interact intimately with Nagisa. I could only utter normal words: "Morning Nagisa."
In response to my greeting, I was met with a nonchalant face, before Nagisa walked away. Unable to find the reason why I was ignored, I kept pestering Nagisa in order to get a response; however, Nagisa responded with indifference.
My one sided interaction persisted on for many days which vexed me greatly.
"Nagisa, aren't I your best friend?"
"Why do you keep ignoring me?"
"Tell me what I did wrong, and I'll fix it."
Although Nagisa kept ignoring me, it didn't stop me from questioning him. I don't know if Nagisa was finally annoyed by my pestering, but he started to act normal again on the fifth day.
"Morning Karma." I stared blankly at Nagisa's face. Was he actually talking to me?
"Karma? Don't tell me you actually enjoy getting ignored?" Nagisa's next words instantly awoke me from my shock.
"No, no I hate being ignored!"
Throughout the rest of the day, we acted as we normally did, but I could tell Nagisa started putting some distance between us. Although the distance saddened me, it was better than being ignored. When school was nearing its end, I couldn't hold back my curiosity any longer. "Why were you ignoring me?"
"I just realized you're not to blame for my dilemma." Not getting a proper response, I continued to question Nagisa; however, Nagisa kept changing the topic, thus my questions remained unanswered.
NAGISA'S POV
My solution was for the best. Although I liked Karma, I feared whether my feelings would be reciprocated. Karma viewed me as his best friend, and my sentiments would only hinder our relationship.
Nevermind Karma, I had to find a new permanent dwelling to reside in. Spending money on a hotel wasn't cost-effective and I'll eventually run out of money. After going through the options in my head, renting an apartment seemed the most lucrative choice.
"Bye Karma, I got something to do." After class ended, I set out to accomplish the task.
"Ok, I'll tag along with you."
I stared dumbly into his golden eyes. If I let him accompany me, he would find out about my situation. "You don't..." before I could finish, Karma's dangerous glare left no room for rejection. I could only silently nod.
"Let's go. So where's our first destination?" Karma excitedly asked.
I embarrassedly avoided his eyes and meekly responded: "I'm going to rent an apartment." His gaze turned murderous for a second, before returning back to his normal smile.
"Why?" He questioned with a fake smile. I noticed he was holding back his bloodthirsty intent so he wouldn't frighten me.
"Karma, you don't have to hold yourself back. You won't scare me."
"Alright so whose the target? Nagisa let's dissect them together."
"That's not a bad idea, but it would cause too much trouble."
"Well, who is it?"
Knowing Karma's personality, I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the news tomorrow; thus, I kept the information from him: "I just ran away, it's nothing much."
"Nagisa, if you don't tell me who it is, how can I kill them?"
I ignored his remarks. "Come on, I need to find a living area before it gets too late."
"Well, you can just live at my house. It won't cost anything."
I was captivated by the free offer with my only concern being living with Karma. Although I consider myself to possess high self control, I lose it whenever it comes to Karma's exuding beauty. "Karma, that would be putting too much on you."
"Am I not your best friend?"
Once again reminded of my standing in Karma's heart, I felt dejected. He was right, I'm nothing more to him besides being his best friend. "Ok ok, you win."
