Percy POV

"I don't need bug spray," I said, refusing the can once again. "Bugs don't like me." Annabeth sighed and tried to pass the can anyways. "Bug bites are the least I've been through. I can handle a few bug bites."

"What do you have against bug spray?" She asked teasingly.

"The smell. The stickiness." I scrunched up my face. Annabeth raised her eyebrow, but approached me and gave me a quick peck on the lips.

"Fine then. Thankfully I brought some ice packs in the cooler." Annabeth breathed, giving up. She stepped away and sprayed herself with bug spray, barely noticeable in the dark night, and passed the can to Mom and Paul, who were getting Estelle ready for bed. Mom and Paul invited us to come on their road trip, where we would stop and sleep under the stars or tents along the way. Annabeth was a little skeptical to come, because of monsters and stuff, but they haven't bothered us so far.

"I don't think that I should come," She said when we got the news. "I'm not really part of your family. I don't want to intrude. I--"

"Wise girl! Mom sees you practically as a daughter! Of course, we want you thee with us. I want you to come." Annabeth smiled slightly. "I love you, Annabeth"

"Percy! Annabeth honey! It's getting late, you should get some sleep." Mom called from inside a tent. It was getting kinda late. Our campfire had already died down half an hour ago, right after we looked at the stars. Stars.

"Annabeth! Let's sleep under the stars!" I whispered. In the darkness, I saw Annabeth's face light up. We went inside the tent and pulled out our sleeping bags, arranging them side by side under the stars.

"Hello." We said to them, falling asleep, dreaming of surprisingly good memories with no nightmares.

I woke up the next morning with sunlight streaming through my eyelids and itchiness all around. Yawning, I stretched and got up to look for Annabeth, who must have already woken up. I found her and my mom, making some toast and eggs over a gas-powered stove, not paying attention to me yet.

"The stars were beautiful, but the bugs were killer. I'm thankful that the bug spray provided some protection but--" I heard Annabeth say. She stopped when she saw me, her mouth agape.

"Did you put on some bug spray yesterday night?" Mom asked, eyes wide open. That was when Estelle waddled into the scene.

"Percy has a booboo mommy!" She cried pointing at me. I looked down at myself, my eyes widening.

"I think that the mosquitoes liked your blood." Mom said laughing a little as I inspected my many bug bites all over my body. Annabeth smirked and walked closer, kissing me shortly.

"I told you so," She said smugly. "Thankfully, you said that you could deal with a few bites."

I groaned, then my skin started itching.

"Can I have some ice?"

Extra:

"What happened to you?"  Nico asked as soon as we got to camp. "You look like the bees heard you say something offensive, so they attacked you." Will elbowed him.

"Nico, be nice." He whispered.

"I can act like I want to, Solace," Nico said, elbowing him back. They looked at me, expecting an answer.

"Mosquitoes," I say in all seriousness.

"He refused to wear bug spray," Annabeth laughed, teasingly.

A/N: I hope those who are reading this like these so far! Thank you for reading (and for leaving a vote or comment if you did...), this makes me pretty happy :) I'll try to update daily as best as I can, so I'm planning to finish this pretty soon! If you have any suggestions, feel free to comment! I've also been thinking of writing a "Mortals meet demigods" book of oneshots. Would you read it? If I do, all the demigods won't all be popular, have good cars and fancy clothes though. They probably won't even go to the same school... Comment if you're interested, but I'll probably get to writing it once I'm finished with my other stories anyways. Take care!
