There was a large arena labeled "Rebel Rockets", so Juni walked into it. There, she was met by a kid in a silver game suit.

"A courageous new contestant! Welcome to Robocon!"

"Is this level 2?" Juni asked.

"Not at all! This is the Area of Misfortune, and if you want to get to level 2,you gotta battle a mech!" The boy led her to a platform that was risen slightly above the ground.

"Because of course I do," Juni sighed, letting herself be led away. The platform she was standing on was steadily rising, and eventually brought her to a different platform. The boy was there as well.

"Hey, there!"

Juni half heartedly waved. He brought both her hands up and dropped them onto the hooks resting by her head.

"You need to go out there in your battle mech and fight !"

Two large metal sheets came down from the ceiling and imprinted on her, when they were removed they left an impressive orange battle suit on Juni.

"Who am I fighting?" Juni asked warily. The boy leaned over and pointed to the other side of the arena. "Her,"

Juni could barely make out the small figure of a little girl in a purple suit similar to her own.

"Ok, cool. Yeah, I got this."

The boy clapped a hand on her shoulder. "Don't get too trashed and I get bonus points!"

And with that, she was released to begin.

Juni exhaled sharply as she began walking forward, barely keeping her balance as she steered the giant battle mech to the middle of the arena.

"Ok, I want a clean Robot fight," The robot referee explained. "No kidney punches, no rabbit punches, no ear biting or eye gouging. Unless, of course, you can't help yourself," It added unhelpfully. Juni sighed before giving a friendly wave to her opponent. The little girl in purple just glared back.

"Hi, I'm Juni."

"...Demetra." She said after a moment.

Juni nodded and readied a battle stance. She didn't want to fight a little girl, but she also needed to get to level 2 before she lost any more time.

"Ready? Fight!"

Juni crouched and swept a leg at Demetra's feet. The purple mech went down and Juni stood, backing up.

The purple mech flipped onto its feet. Demetra threw out a punch but Juni grabbed the mech by the arm and threw it across the arena.

"Round 2!" She heard it announced. Juni got back into a battle position in the spot she was in the beginning of the fight.

"Ok, let's do this."

In the end, it was Juni who won. Demetra didn't stand a chance. After the purple mech was removed from the arena, the kid in silver came out on his own mech that was definitely not for battle.

"Well, well, well. For a newbie, you sure do fight like a pro."

Juni pointedly decided not to tell him that no, she wasn't a newbie, in games or fights.

"Thanks," She decided on. The kid smirked and put a mech arm on her small control platform.

"Congrats, and uh, you can keep the suit."

He pushed on the platform and let go, launching her onto the other side of the mood.

Why is this the only form of transportation?
