After Eri ran away, Overhaul disposed of her last caretaker and decided to appoint you as her new one, hoping that a feminine touch would prevent her from running away again.

"You'll be her caretaker now. Don't let her even think about running. Become someone Eri feels she can trust." These were the commands that were given to you when you were called into Overhaul's office. They replayed in your head as you walked towards Eri's room.

When you walked into the dark room, you could barely make out the small figure of the white haired girl curled up on her bed. You decided to turn on the light before slowly walking towards her and gently sitting down on the edge of the bed.

"Hey Eri" you said in a soft voice "I'm gonna be your new caretaker from now on" you informed her before gently patting her on the head.

She looked at you with a look of fear in her eyes as she tried to push herself even further into the bed.

You let out a sigh as you noticed the bandages wrapped around her wrists. 'What is he doing to her? Why is this child so important?' Overhaul never explained to you why a child as young as Eri was kept so sheltered from the outside world nor her importance to his plans. 'Whatever he needs from her can't be anything good' you thought as you eyed her bandages once again.

Whatever was going on, you wanted this child to at least feel safe with you. Not only to prevent yourself from being killed like her last caretaker, but also for Eri's sake.

You looked around the room and noticed the many toys strewn around on the floor. "Do you like toys?" You returned your gaze to the meek child. Your only reply was a small nod. "Then why don't you play with any of these? Do you want me to play with you?" She gave another small nod. "Pick out your favorite dolls and we can play all you want."

Eri cautiously got off the bed and nervously went to look at all of the dolls in the room. After choosing two dolls, she walked back towards you and gently placed one of the dolls in your lap. You picked up the doll before turning to Eri with a smile. She looked at you with wide eyes as you began speaking to her doll using the doll that you were given.

At first, she just looked on in confusion as you continued to move the doll you were holding around. "You know, this is a lot more fun if you talk too"

She looked at you with an uneasy expression on her face before she began to talk in a quiet voice while moving her doll. You smiled in victory as you continued to play dolls with her until she began to look sleepy.

"I think it's time for bed. Why don't you lay down and I read you a bedtime story." As you walked towards the bookshelf on the other side of the room to look for a book, you heard shuffling behind you, indicating that Eri was getting under her covers.

After looking through the many titles on the bookshelf, you decided to read her Goodnight Moon. When you sat down on the edge of the bed, you began to read the book to her, making sure to show her all of the pictures that were drawn in the book. About halfway through the story, you began to hear soft snores coming from the little girl. With a gentle smile, you closed the book and put it back on the shelf. You then went back to the bed and fixed the blanket properly over her small body and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead.

"Goodnight Eri" you whispered as you walked out of the room, turning the light off as you left.
