Chapter 15: Cooking up a little Competition

The contestants had settled in during the previous hours that day and awaited for their first challenge of the new season.

—Scene at the campground intern cabin; at 4:45 PM—

Gwen met with Dakota at the interns' cabin to speak with her regarding the promise that was made.

"Hi Dakota. I need you to look after my daughter when Trent and I are participating in challenges." Gwen informed Dakota.

"Alright, I can. I remember agreeing to that and I won't let the two of you down." Dakota assured.

"I see you've somehow reverted back to your normal self even though your body was previously mutated." Gwen took notice.

"While I was learning to control my mutated body, I've learned to temporarily reshape my body to its original state." Dakota explained to Gwen.

"Surprising, but cool." Gwen commented.

"The challenge will be starting soon and I better head back to the trailer area. Please come with me right now if you can." Gwen regarded.

"Right away." Dakota agreed.

Dakota then followed Gwen over to the girls' trailer to see her daughter.

—Scene at the trailer area; at 5:00 PM—

Blaineley came over to the trailer area to announce the first challenge.

"Good evening everyone. Your first challenge for this season will be a cook off. Please meet me in the mess hall so we can go over the rules." Blaineley said to the contestants.

"Alright." the contestants proceeded.

—Scene at the mess hall; at 5:05 PM—

Both teams gathered around the mess hall to start the challenge.

"We haven't had a challenge like this for long time and think it's been something close to normal since Total Drama Island." Gwen said to Trent.

"It sounds more interesting to do a cooking challenge without Heather or Owen causing trouble for us." Trent presumed.

Blaineley walked between the two teams to give them instructions.

"For this evening's cook off, each team must choose one of the two kitchens to prepare a 3 course meal using the given ingredients on the mess hall tables." Blaineley explained.

"You have 5 minutes to gather your desired ingredients and you may not go back into the mess hall to grab more after the time limit; then you must use the collected ingredients to cook a decent meal for the interns."

"The winning team with the best prepared meal by the deadline at 7:00 PM gets to eat a luxury dinner; the losing team must settle for what they cooked during the challenge."

"Ready, set, and start!" Blaineley gave her cue.

The two teams then scrambled towards the mess hall tables to pick out specific ingredients and quietly discussed recipes with their teammates.

Gwen was discussing recipes on the Stormy Hydras team.

"Have we decided on what we are going to cook?" Gwen asked her teammates.

"I was considering an Italian themed meal." Courtney replied.

"Based on what ingredients we see on the table, it looks like we can make garlic bread as an appetizer, pizza as the middle course, and Italian ice for dessert." Trent suggested.
