Chapter twenty two

When Cal and Andreas are back they are received with the news of Snake's escape.

Hawk doesn't leave any chance to remind Cal over and over again that I was at fault.

Ingenious tries to revive the camera footage but everytime he had met with failure.

My heart seemed like it was beating in my throat everytime Ingenious came close to reviving it.

I was grateful that Vicious suggested him to give up on it when he was getting nothing after several tries.

Though Cal was understanding enough to forgive me for my mistake. Hawk was not.

He kept muttering about it every minute for the past week. At breakfast , lunch , dinner even when I was training. It angered me.

There were times when I had come close to losing it completely. I wanted to bang his face on the wall. I controlled my anger.

What was more disappointing was that Pheobe was taking his side on the incident. Pheobe who had been upset with me ever since me asking her to stay back for the event.

Her anger towards me quickly evolved into admiration for Hawk. She seemed to hang on to his every word. Hawk grabed on to her attention.

Everyday it seemed like he was taking her farther and farther towards him. Away from me.

Yes I was upset. Not only upset but worried. Hawk hated me. If this was his idea of hurting me , by using Pheobe , she was going to be broken when his charade ended.

I wasn't the only one who didn't like the interaction between Pheobe and Hawk. Merissa and Gale were upset too.

Merissa because she was longer the centre of her brother's universe. He spend less time listening to her complains.

Gale seemed to have some issue with Hawk. She was upset with Pheobe. But Hawk angered her.

I had seen her trying to warn him off. He reasoned with her and never listened.

I wondered if I should talk about it to Pheobe about it. But I quickly decided against it. The last time I tried to warn someone it didn't end well.

If it gets too far. Hawk will always have me to put up against before he hurts Pheobe.

My interactions with Ingenious has grown ever since the Snake incident. I would question him about things here. He would dodge few questions that went too far.

It was from these interactions that I figure out few things.

Ingenious was the one responsible for the digital security here. Hawk was responsible for all the manual ones.

Andreas or Vicious accompanied Cal when he had to go somewhere. More Vicious.

I also found something interesting from one of our conversations.

It was Vicious who insisted on the names. It was also him who suggested no sharing their past.

I had my guesses on why.

"Why did you keep Snake locked up here?" I ask Ingenious.

I had told him that it was the name I had given Carlos. He laughed for hours when I told him.

"Oh god! You and your questions. You have this look on your face when you ask them.It's fucking impossible to not answer them." He says.

I shrug.
