Two Universes

Highway Men

As Arnold rode the cart to the town Jack and Nick started to talk about what to do now "So , what should we do? we are in a .....alternate dimension with  animal people called kiedren and it seems like they are in the what medieval era ? maybe just after that ?" started Jack trying the best leader he could , "Well as far as we know we are stuck here with about 4 pistol mags and a good couple air rifle mags , so we should try to use them sparely and try to find or get weapons that don't need ammo like a sword" stated Nick "But then we also need food , we have about what 2 weeks supply ? and we also need mon-" Nick was cut of by a loud explosion from in front of the cart.

As Jack a started to rise from the explosion they saw a  group of the animal people around 3 strong but looking highly lethal  start to converge on them , after some quick thinking about there situation he decided they HAD to run , Nick who had just started to get his senses back was quickly pulled up and and was forced to run with Jack holding onto his arm with strength after a few minutes the duo stopped and looked around for were they were and if anyone followed there sudden retreat , and some waiting Nick started to here a rustling from the trees , after alerting Jack to the noise they both brought out there emergency pistol and aimed preparing to kill or incapacitate the rustling stopped.

After a few seconds a dim get bright light appeared in the hands of one of the kiedren Highway men and a low but recognisable voice could be heard "Jack is that you?" then the voice got louder "Jack its me Mable  i'm here i thought you were coming home a month from now?" after the voice finished speaking Jack froze before looking over at his wife , he saw her beautiful brown hair and her light yet tanned skin and her almost perfect smile , without missing a beat Jack ran over and hugged his wife  "Mable why are you here ?! I've missed you so much" after a couple of seconds Mable got out of the hug and she started to run telling him to come catch her, Nick, who tried to stop Jack from running after her and failed, was now standing alone waiting for any sign of the kiedren things, after hearing a small rustle Nick quickly aimed towards the sound and fired a shot hitting whatever was there in the chest making him fall out the tree and fall unconscious just out of sight  of Nick.

After chasing Mable for a minute Jack finally caught up to her "hey why did you run of like that , are you ok?" Jack  started "was it the weird animal people?" "hm no i just wanted to get away from Nick i don't like him very mu-" as Mable finished speaking a arrow flew towards Nick hitting the Kevlar vest and just barely missing his skin , after the arrow struck Jack he quickly fired a shot toward the location of the shooter after getting a 'oof' sound from the location, Jack started to pull Mable towards Nick so they would be safer, but before they could get there another explosion erupted in front of them.
