American in the Sand: A Naruto Fanfiction

"Jae!" I said looking for my boyfriend, but instead of seeing buildings of my urban home; I see sand, sand, sand dunes and- more sand. I can almost imagine Anakin's disapproval of the place. In the distance I saw a wall that looked like the Hohakam Indians built it, as I walked closer, I could make out buildings behind the wall. As I got closer, I spot someone outside said wall, a kid with red hair and a gourd. At least I didn't go back in time.
"Hello?" I croaked, my throat felt like sandpaper. The boy, as I was assuming, seemed to have heard me because he ran over to me. "You shouldn't be out here on your own." he told me, taking by the arm. How are you taller than me?!  "What's your name?" he asked leading me to the gates "Deserai Casey." I managed as I noticed a familiar symbol on his forehead just over his left eye: 受

I recognized it from my little sister's anime "You're Gaara of the Sands, right?" I asked, he grunted "Yeah." He walked me down the street of the Village Hidden in the Sand to one of the houses.

"Here, I'll get you some water." he left the room that we had entered into from the streets. I took a seat on the floor mats What am I doing in the world of Naruto?  I thought as Gaara returned with the liquid life "Thank you." I said, taking a sip. "You're not from here, are you?" he asked, I nodded my head. "Then explain."

I sighed and told him that I was a sixteen-year-old girl from America and how when my boyfriend and I met up a dust devil surrounded me "Then I popped up here." I finished along with my water. "That doesn't explain how you know who I am." he said, "Um- Because you are the character in a book I'd read." and you are my favorite character of that serie. I flushed slightly, but the boy ignored it "Do you know what happened to your boyfriend?"

I shook my head "Some leave-" I stopped, making the connection "He's in Konoha! But I have to become a shinobi to travel between villages without much issues, right?" Gaara nodded "I think I have a solution for that."

Hello, this is my hundredth fanfic that I have thought of and written up for Wattpad. I am just warning ya'll a few things: first I may not be updating as frequently as other authors because I have school, limited wifi, and a BNHA fanfic so I am busy. Second, I barely know anything about Naruto, I know the timeline and have some of the intros memorize. Finally, they are speaking Japanese unless specified so the chapters are numbered in Japanese. " 一" being "itchi" or one.
