Left Behind - Outer Banks

We'll here's another nice mess you've gotten me into.

Kiara POV

After visiting with Topper I realized I needed to talk to JJ. Topper was kind enough to give me a ride to Pope's place. When I got there Pope was in his room. He was quiet, laid on his bed staring at the ceiling.

"Hi Pope, what are you doing?" I asked calmly.

"Where were you?" He asked in a goofy voice. I could tell Pope had raided JJ's stash of pot.

"I was at the ice cream shop with Topper." I admitted.

"Oooh fun." He said sitting up. His eyes were red and he had a big smile on his face.

"Okay, Pope can you tell me where JJ is?"

"Oh, JJ yeah he went to see John B, you know, who is now alive." Pope giggled.

 "Pope i'm gonna go find him. Just stay here alright?" 

Pope nodded. I took the keys to the van and headed out the door. As I opened the door to leave I saw out Topper talking to Rory out in the lawn. She saw me and waved me over. I wondered why Topper was still here. 

She was laughing at him, I think they were flirting.

"Hi Rory, what are you doing here?" I asked confused.

"I went to your house, but your parents said your might be here. And I recognized Topper, so we just started talking."

"I was just saying about how there is a get together at Alex's tonight. You remember Alex, I remember seeing you at his halloween party. But do you guys wanna come?" Topper invited.

"I would love to but I have to go see JJ." I said.

"Oh JJ can come to!" Rory expressed.

"I'll think about it, maybe we'll come by later." I agreed.

Rory smiled. Her and Topper got in his car and drove off. I remembered what I was doing and drove to John B's house.

When I got there the house was quiet, almost like nobody was home. And when I went inside it was empty. I called JJ to see where he was, but he didn't answer. I wanted to call John B or Sarah, but I realized I didn't have their number, or even knew if they had phones. Best possible outcome they went grocery shopping, and worst outcome they killed each other. What was I going to do? Pope was useless. I just had to wait for something. 

I texted Rory letting her know I would be coming to Alex's. I just hoped Rafe wasn't there. I can't do a repeat of halloween night, that's the last thing I need. 

When I got there there were about 15 people sitting in his backyard around a fire. It was pretty relaxed. I sat next to Rory who was sitting close to Topper. 

"No JJ?" She asked.

"Yeah, he's off God knows where." I admitted. I wanted to be apart of whatever adventure John B, Sarah, and JJ were getting into, but I also just wanted to do something on my one for a while. Be away from the four of them. I didn't even know half of the people at the bonfire, but that didn't matter. I guess I felt welcome, and that was all I needed. 

The party started to die down around midnight. I had drank a decent amount and wasn't able to drive. Topper offered to take me home, but I wasn't sure where. To my house with my parents, to Pope's and get high, or to John B's to wait for JJ. I asked him to take me to John B's. I wasn't sure if Topper knew that the house he was taking me to was John B's.

I sat in the back while Rory and Topper were in front.

"Rory why did you come looking for me at Pope's tonight?" I questioned.

"Oh, Luisa said you had been acting weird at school and I wanted to check on you" Rory explained.

I smiled. "Thanks Rory, that really kind of you." I expressed.

A few minutes later we pulled up to John B's house.

"Are you sure this is the right place?"Topper questioned.

I had to admit John B's house was pretty run down, and at dark it looked sketchy. 

"Yeah are you sure you want to stay here?" Rory asked.

I opened the door and stepped out. I heard voices coming from the dock. Oh shit that must be them. Topper and Rory can't know they're here.

"You can leave, JJ's here now." I said quickly closing the car door.

John B, Sarah, and JJ got closer to me. I knew Topper saw them, because the car didn't move.

I heard the Car door slam closed as I saw Topper standing next to me.

"Sarah? Is that you." Topper murmured. But before anyone could respond John B had punched Topper in the face, making him tumble to the ground.

Can't they go five minutes without fighting?
