Cinder's POV

Bolting upright in the bed as soon as the doors clicked shut, I gaped at the space where the Prince disappeared through. "Oh my Lord!" I whispered yelled to myself in the quiet room. Did I really hear what I heard coming from the Prince's mouth? How in the heavens can he have feelings for me? I am but a mere peasant and male at that, surely he knows a male cannot reproduce. Exhaling loudly I flopped back on the bed looking up at the canopy above me. The prince had confessed to me, the mere thought had my heart fluttering wildly on my chest cavity. Calm down Cinder Ella it's not like he knew you were faking your slumber. Sigh, yes that's right I'll just have to pretend that I know nothing of what transpired a few minutes ago. That's it, deep calm breaths like nothing ever happened.

"Oh my Lord, the prince confessed!" My arms flail about like a mad man as I rolled around in the bed. The burning in my cheeks only fueling my distress further. How is it that he could confess his feelings for me? He literally met me only a few days ago and even then he was quite rude and ignored me up until last night. I wonder if he's okay in the head. I faceplant into the soft pillows listening to the sounds of the outdoors as it lulled me into a state of relaxation. Today would be the day that I would've gone to the market and get lunch with Gus and Jaq. My body stiffened as I remembered my only friends, well not so much friends anymore. I doubt we are even acquaintances especially with the way how Jaq had kindly put his words. The palpitating of my heart felt strong and heavy but my chest felt numb and hollow, the stinging behind my eyes grew ever so painful the more I thought about Jaq and Gus and how easily they had cast me away like a stray dog. A sob rocked my body as I cried in this massive room as my brain finally caught up with my body. I was alone, truly alone. There's no one to turn to, need shoulder to cry on, no one to hold me and tell me that I'm still something of value in this world. "Little one?" I tensed instantly as the soothing voice of Stellan washed throughout the room. Trying to hold in my sobs which rocked my body slowly, I made no effort to answer nor turn to face him. "It's okay, Don't be sad. I know the Prince can be overbearing at times but I promise you he means good." A large warm hand swiped continuously and gently across my back as he attempted to cheer me up. He thinks this is the Prince's fault?

"He's a block head at times and I'm sure he didn't mean anything by it. He was just looking out for you little one. But if this happens again I'll make sure to... To... Throw him in the uh... Um stable. Yes I'll throw him in the stable." A small giggle erupted from me as I listened to this burly man threatens to throw his Prince in a horse stable. "I don't think he'll like that very much." I replied with a series of hiccups following each word. "Who cares." He chuckled out as I sat upright in the bed pulling the covers up to my chin, peering at Stellan from my barricade. He stared back, analyzing my face as his eyes dart across the span of my skin. His arm reached out swiping a stray tear from my cheek smiling softly "You're too beautiful to cry little one but alas you're quite cute when you do cry." He jested pinching my already rosy cheeks resulting in me slapping his hand away. Pouting greatly I huffed loudly and folded my arms across my chest, acting a child. Stellan let loose a bellowing laugh as he took in my appearance. " So cute, come now little one we need to get you fitted for a suit." Easing himself off the bed he turned stretching his hand out towards me. "Suit? Why is that?" Although puzzled I took ahold of his hand so that he could pull me up from the bed.

"The King of Loir-Et-Cher will be here, he and his family should arrive in the next two days or so." He gently pulled me forward to another part of the castle that I had completely seemed to miss. "There will be a small gathering, a banquet only for the royals whom are close to the King." Nodding at this, I watched as two guards opened a double door and as we stepped inside I gasped at the multitude of colorful fabric of all patterns, prints and solid.  It was beautiful "Richard, how are you?" A man stepped out from behind a beautiful gown wrapped around a mannequin that had its back turned to us. This Richard person grimaced as he spot Stellan in his line of vision. "What could you possibly want now?" His exasperated voice washed throughout the room bouncing across the walls and to my ears. "Haha don't be like that. Can't I come visit the most amazing friend I could ever have?" Walking up to the shorter man, Stellan unleashed a flurry of hefty slaps against Richard's back that visibly moved him. "Stop that!" Richard hissed harshly moving out of Stellan's reach. His caramel skin catching the sun in a beautiful honey glazed glow as he glared at Stellan. "Oh come on Richard, I can't believe you're still not over that as yet! I said I was sorry." Richard however paid the other no mind as he huffed dramatically and turned away. He gasped loudly which almost sounded like a shriek as he spotted me. Gosh I know I was crying but do I look that hideous? Lowering my head in mild shame, wrapping my arms around myself in a hug as my ears turned red from embarrassment.

"Holy hell, you scared me!" The exclamation of Richard further sent me into deeper embarrassment as the words struck the target-my self esteem. "Now now Richard, look at what you did. You frightened the little one." Stellan scold as he came up to me. "I scared her? Are you serious? She was just standing there like a statue watching us of course I was frightened."

Shaking his head Stellan rub his hand in reassurance against my shoulder. "You work with mannequins all day surely you would've been used to things standing still by now. However on to primitive matters, this here is Cinder Ella and he will be attending the upcoming banquet, arm in arm with the Prince." Feeling a tug at my arm I glanced up to see Stellan motioning me to greet Richard. "H-hello." He gasped once again as he stared me down "He? As in male?" Nodding Stellan brought me closer to him to inspect me. Richard's dark brown eyes gazed into the depths of my soul as if dissecting me. Fidgeting slightly I started to play with the hem of my shirt. "Stunning." He whispered lowly as he walked around me. "Are you sure this isn't a female impersonating a male?" Sighing Stellan answered a yes before clearly stating what he had initially came for. "As I had previously said, which I'm surely not repeating, he needs his measurements taken today for the completion of his suit. So I'll be over here." Directing the last part of his sentence to me Stellan headed to a couch and sat staring at the both of us. Clearing his throat Richard straighten his posture and greeted me with a pearly white smile. "Let's get started now shall we hon." He gently took my hand and guiding me to a small circular platform. "Quite slender aren't you Master Cinder." He hummed to himself before pulling out a measuring tape and just like that what felt like hours, he had finished taking my measurements. "Oh I can't wait to start making this suit for you surely you'll absolutely adore it!" His face split into a wide grin as his eyes twinkled with excitement and as it seemed to be contagious I found myself smiling brightly also. "Oh dear Cinder, the most beautiful Cinder unmatched by both male and female. I will make a garment in likeness to your otherworldly beauty." He bowed at the waist as he took my hand and laid a gentle kiss upon it. "Whoa there, the Prince will surely have your head Richard." Chuckling Richard stood tall as he gazed at me once again. "That is a risk I am willing to take, if it means to gaze at this beautiful creature." Without even looking I know my face was tomato red. "Uh huh, okay. Come along Cinder." Stellan took my hand away from Richard leading me towards the door. Shaking my head lightly I look towards Stellan smiling softly. "He is quite...peculiar." Laughing Stellan agreed and as he was about to open the door it bursts open itself. Surprised I jumped back into Stellan who steadied me. "Richard I do hope you have finished my gown for your sake!" She shouted her face ugly with anger. She stepped into the room but stopped short as she came face to face with me and as if her face could look any uglier,it scrunched up even more.
"Lady Priscilla, what is the problem?" Stellan took me by the shoulders bringing me closer to him and behind him, not being subtle at all. However peeking from my hiding spot behind him I could see the Lady Priscilla still glaring at me. "What is that doing here?" Her snarled words shook me slightly as I wondered what I did to anger her. "Watch what you say." Stellan said calmly as he took my hand leading us around her. "This place is for royals not stray dogs." She harrumphed loudly stepping pass us and waltzing in the room.
