(Y/N)'s POV

"(Y/N)! We need to go!" I heard (F/N)'s voice scream as they pulled my arm. I could feel the heat from the fire as smoke filled the air.

The sound of fire crackling, screams, destruction, cries, and metals clanging echoed throughout as (F/N) pulled me out of our home.

"Where are we going?!"

"I... I don't know! We just can't stay here!" they answered as we continued to run. I felt grass beneath me and heard leaves rustling as we continued to run.

After what felt like hours, we stopped beneath a tree, letting our aching legs give out. I felt (F/N) lay down on my lap, sweating and breathing heavily.

We stayed there for a while until I felt their breathing became stable.

"(F/N)?" I called out, but there was no reply. I sighed as I let them rest, knowing how tired they must have been.

"Where... Are we...?" I breathed out, feeling the things around me.

'Grass... Rocks... And the tree... But why do I smell food and hear a construction site?' I thought, trying to decipher where (F/N) led us.

"Huh...? Trespassers..." a female voice echoed, making me look around.

"U-Um...! We're not here to hurt anyone! We're just looking for a place to rest for the night..." I tried to feel a presence and find out which direction the voice came from, but I couldn't notice anything.

"Please... Our village was attacked and... We have nowhere to go..." I cried, letting the tears I've been holding back to drop.

"...Please wait," the female voice said, I felt a gush of wind pass by us.

'...A dryad...' I shook (F/N)'s arm, but I knew it was no use since they were passed out cold.

After a while, I heard numerous footsteps coming towards us along with the same gush of wind from before.

'...A bunch of four-legged creatures along with the dryad...'

"I think they're survivors from (V/N)..."

"I see..." a new voice grumbled, followed with a... Splat?

"... A slime?" I thought out loud, trying to figure out what's going on.

"How sharp of you," the slime complimented, hopping towards me.

"What's your name?"

"...(Y/N)..."

"And your companion?"

"(F/N)..."

"My name is Rimuru, I'm sorry if Treyni scared you but you're in Jura Tempest Federation territory, and we needed to make sure that you're harmless," Rimuru explained as I felt someone sniffing me, making me back away.

"That's just Ranga, my dire wolf," Rimuru reassured as Ranga kept sniffing us. I felt some wind in my face as if someone was waving at me.

"So you really are blind... What about your friend?"
