I sit down by the riverside,
Watching cars roll by.
The trees sway above me,
Showering red, gold and brown.
There's a squirrel nearby.
She's wondering who I am.
What should I tell her?
That I am one of them?
The ones who ruined, ruin and keep ruining her home?
Oblivious to life and death,
And scared of them both?
Or am I one of those people,
The ones who hoped, hope and keep hoping,
For a better life for her and me both?
I do not know.
But still, one thing is clear.
Do not worry, dear squirrel.
A brighter day is near.
