"Here." Our school guard immediately hand me a letter.

"What's this?" I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Charlie's mom asked me to give it to you. He really loves you. Even till death." He whispered the last two sentences.

"What?"

"Nothing." He just smiled. I went inside and opened the letter

Dear Cris,

It's me again. So first, go to the library. Find your favorite book there. I'm guessing, you're thinking right now. Thinking what your favorite book is because you love everything. But look for Love Letters to The Dead by Ava Dellaira. I read that book. You told me to. I choose it because, it's the most appropriate book on our situations. We'll, there's some changes. Because I am the one writing you letters and I am the one who's dead. So, I guess I should change the title. Love Letters from The Dead by Charlie Matthew Gomez. How about that?

Your one and only best friend,

Matthew

I went inside the library. This is where it all begin. This is where the sad part of our story begins. I can still remember exactly what happened that day. It thought it was just one of those normal days. Sunny day. Students studying for the upcoming exams. And there we are. Studying just like always.

"I'm tired." You said.

"But we need to study. Don't worry ok. We'll be college already. Then, we'll be doctors just like our plan." I smiled.

"I don't feel good." You told me. I looked you.

"Are you still having nose bleeds?"

"Trust me, I'll be more alarmed if I won't have nose bleeds." You laughed.

"I told you we should visit a doctor. Do you think it's normal to have nose bleeds every day?" I asked angrily.

"I'm fine. Don't worry."

"You know that frequent nose bleedings are one of the symptoms of leukemia, right?" I said with teary eyes.

"Hey. Here we are with that conversation again." You hugged me which made me cry hard on your shoulder.

"Shhhhh. Don't cry." But I only cried harder because of your comfort.

"Ok. We'll visit a doctor. After you finish studying."

"I'm done already." I instantly stood up and grab my things and started walking car.

"Seriously." You laughed.

"Call your mom." I said before you start the car.

"Come on, it's nothing. It will only make her worry." You said.

"Don't tell me never said anything about having nose bleeds to your mom."

"Cris."

"Don't Cris me. You're so unbelievable. I told you to tell her. That's why she never told you to see a doctor. She doesn't even know that you are having a fucking nose bleeds almost every day. You've got to be kidding me." I lashed out.

"Where going to see a doctor already." You said like nothing.

"Tell me. You're having bruises too, right?" I said ready to cry again.

"You already went to a doctor." I concluded.

"What is it?" I asked already on verge of crying.

"It's leukemia Cris. I don't know how to tell you. I don't know how to tell mom. I don't want to leave you and mom." He said that made me cry so hard.

"If you don't really want to leave us, you shouldn't be here. You should be at the hospital receiving the treatments that you need. Gosh, do you even have a plan of telling us about this? Or we are just going to wake up one day and you're in the hospital lying, and we, we are there clueless of what's happening to you!" I shouted.

"Cris-"

"Drive." I cut him.

I was really angry that day. I was very angry at you. But I know, it's not you don't want us to know. It just that, even yourself can't accept it. You can't accept the possibilities of losing us. So, you kept it. You kept it until it destroyed you. And I blamed myself for that. If only... If I just only noticed that something is off. You were probably healed.

I started looking for the book. I opened it and there it is, the exact words that I want to hear right now.

Dear Cris,

It's not your fault.
