CHAPTER 9

One week had done wonders to heal Angela's arm. She moved her arm around, smiling when there was no aching or pain that coursed through her. 'Let's do this,' She thought, stepping back into Brook Academy for the first time in a week.

---

Kyle was agitated. Had been for the past 4 days. Charles and Chase even said so themselves.

"Dude, it was just two fries! Have mine if you're so upset about it," Charles defended Chase when the latter stole one off Kyle on Thursday.

Kyle wouldn't normally get ticked off from something so trivial but as the days past, his annoyance continued to grow. A week had passed, and Angela Hudgeman still hadn't texted him back. He deliberated, multiple times, if he should text once more, just to see if she forgot to reply to him since she had already seen the message. But no. He wasn't going to double text. That was beneath him.

Regardless, he couldn't stop himself from looking at his phone in class. Just in case.

Nothing.

He made a noise of frustration, forehead creasing and lips turned down in an angry frown.

"Mr Hawk, care to share what's got you making such a noise in class?" Mr Wright questioned, arching his eyebrow.

"Nothing, sir," Kyle gritted out. He didn't mean for it to sound sarcastic, but somehow he couldn't find it in himself to care when it came out that way. Mr Wright didn't let it slip past him, taking great offense.

"Is that so? Well since nothing is bothering you, why don't you come up here and show the class how to derive the answer from this equation," He sneered, giving Kyle a purposefully hard question, one from a college ivy league entrance exam.

'Dumbass, hasn't he learnt from before,' Kyle thought, striding up to the board and solving the question in 10 minutes. The bell rang once he was done, in time for lunch.

"Hope this is okay, sir," Kyle ran his fingers through his hair, tousling it and walking away to grab his things.

He walked out the class with the rest of his dumbfounded classmates, making his way to the cafeteria. He texted Chase and Charles that he'd see them at the usual table before pocketing his phone and looking up. His eyes met bespectacled brown ones.

Angela Santario looked at him like he was a ghost. He frowned even more. He hadn't seen this girl in a week after the incident at the office and this is how she greets him? He still doesn't get who her father is for her to make such an impressive statement about donating to the school. Kyle clicked his tongue and walked brushed past her, not bothering to acknowledge her. Why should he?

Then he smelled it. Jasmine. His hand moved on its own accord.

"Hey!" He found it wrapped on Angela's shoulder. Angela Santario's.

Angela startled. She was frozen. Kyle could feel that she was quivering ever so slightly. People around them were murmuring. He must look mad right now. He let go of her with a frustrated sigh, carding his hands through his hair, messing it up even more.

"Nothing. Sorry." He muttered a quick apology and was off to the cafeteria once more.

What was wrong with him today? He knew that he was annoyed that he got left on read but seriously? To be bothered about something like that to this extent? And what was up with him earlier? That was the charity case for goodness sake. Her perfume threw him off. It smelled like his Angela.

His???

He shook his head. This was affecting him way more than he expected.
