Vegas 2020
Right around midnight, Crystal and Gigi met back up in the lobby as promised.
"Follow me- I want to show you something," Crystal said sweetly as she grabbed Gigi's hand.
"Ooooo the mysterious Miss Methyd bringing the surprises tonight," Gigi coyly quipped as the two made their way out the lobby doors.
Stepping into the cool nighttime air, the two girls started making their way down the Vegas strip. The strip seemed relatively quiet that night - at least for Vegas standards – as Crystal and Gigi casually strolled along. Their words were few as they took in the sights around them, pausing occasionally to pass a smiling glance.
"You ready for surprise number one?" Crystal looked towards Gigi as she started to dig into her coat pocket.
"So there's multiple surprises, I see," Gigi replied affectionately. For an impromptu adventure, Crystal really had this whole night planned out. "Bring it."
"Ta-daaaa!" Crystal revealed a little blue bag of their favorite fruit snacks, the kind they've shared countless times before.
"Stop it! You're crazy" Gigi laughed. "What are you, a walking vending machine now?"
"One, thank you for giving me an idea for my next performance," Crystal quipped. "And two, I got super lucky and they were one of the free snacks on the plane. I had to flirt a bit with the flight attendant for him to give me an extra packet to bring home." She paused briefly. "I think the mullet won him over," Crystal smirked as she goofily flipped her hair back.
"Well you know, that mullet can really do something to ya," Gigi joked. "Just speaking from experience here." She held out her hand as Crystal poured out the first few fruit snacks. The familiar berry flavor made her unexpectedly sentimental about their earliest memories together. Gigi chuckled as the thought crossed her mind. "Look at us, back together sharing fruit snacks, just like old times."
Crystal smiled bashfully. She loved seeing Gigi happy, even over one small gesture. That familiar butterflies-in-the-stomach feeling returned once again.
The two continued onward, interrupted only as Crystal tapped Gigi's shoulder. Mimicking a tour guide, Crystal pointed ahead, "And if you look over there, you'll see...surprise number two!"
Following Crystal's lead, Gigi couldn't believe the view of the Bellagio Fountains before her. Sure, she had heard of them before as some sort of Vegas must-see. Visiting them in person was a completely different sight.
As the final fountain show of the night was wrapping up, the two managed to grab their own relatively quiet alcove overlooking the water. Side by side, their bodies leaning against the marble balustrade, the two made themselves comfortable. The next few minutes passed by quietly as they took in the view before them, the fountains dancing around freely.
Gigi could notice Crystal's hands gradually begin to fidget nervously. The curls of hair framing her face moved in the breeze, revealing a look of anticipation. Crystal's demeanor had shifted dramatically from her earlier carefree self. What Gigi could not see were the butterflies in Crystal's stomach- the same ones from earlier- returning in full force.
Gigi's heart began to pound as she processed the moment. Memories of LA came spiraling back – the unbearably long wait to see Crystal, dancing together at the club, the news shared, the two of them just conveniently ending up in bed together. Being alone with Crystal in this moment, she was reminded of the words they had neglected to share; the feelings that they continued to brush under the rug. Gigi was pulled out of her thoughts by the sound of Crystal's voice.
"Hey Geeg," Crystal implored softly, her face turning to meet Gigi's. "I've been holding on to this for way too long but, I have your third surprise." Her voice quavered slightly.
"I love you."
