Chapter 2 - Queen of Hearts

Set up at a small desk in the AirBnb, Crystal began to work on her Queen of Hearts look for the night. Her Springfield sisters chatted about in the room they all shared, getting ready for the night as well.

Crystal was unusually quiet as she focused on her makeup, with thoughts about Gigi distracting her mind. Although she had been in LA for almost two days at this point, she hadn't had the chance to see Gigi yet. Any apprehension she had about their long-awaited reunion was briefly dissipated as she explored LA with her friends the day prior.

It had been nearly two months since they wrapped up filming and gave their hugs goodbye. Would the spark they felt then survive that two-month gap? Sure, they had talked almost every week since then, but it wasn't the same as sharing a space together. Somehow, the distance between LA and Springfield amplified a feeling of longing to be close to one another.

At the forefront of Crystal's mind was the big, and relatively recent, news that she had yet to break to Gigi. Just about three weeks prior, Crystal and her boyfriend back home had broken up.

Both Crystal and her ex had sensed that they were drifting apart as Crystal left for filming that summer. After returning back to Springfield, she had the extra weight of feelings for Gigi to contend with. Without exposing the extent of her friendship with Gigi to her boyfriend, the couple decided it was best to part ways. Crystal was upset, yet experienced a weight being lifted from her shoulders. She no longer felt guilty for thinking about Gigi the way she did.

Crystal's train of thought was interrupted by her friends calling out "SHOTS!" as they pre-gamed for the club. As Crystal joined them, they cheered to the night ahead, their friendship, and finally making it to LA.

Another shot or two later, the Uber arrived to pick the friends up. Crystal's heart started to beat with uncertainty as the driver took them over to the club, her nerves quelled only slightly by the alcohol.
