Chapter 1 Professional Best friends

5 years from now. Both already a doctor. Friends but not so.

The great  cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Niccolo Allendar Ramos, wants to settle down with increasing need to make it known to his frigid soon to be wife.

He now hovers around her and finds out things he didn't know about. 

Best of friends. Throughout the years they remained together. From their third year in medschool, where they met until ending their residency. Everyone from the hospital knew how close they are as friends even if in reality, it's far from the truth as those close to the two knew how much of a recluse Alex is. 

Since their pre residency days, he always invites her out in drinking sprees and touches her inappropriately when he gets drunk. And she became the one always fetching him and deposits him back home before the touching gets worse. No one would help her coz he goes berserk whenever someone else tries to touch either of them.

He always helps her out whenever she needs help in the hospital. Whenever she was asked questions being bullied by seniors coz of her angelic goody two shoes image, he always helps her out and asks if she was okay. She shrugs him off every time. She hates it every time he offers help. For her it was condescending and she does not want rumors again.

Flashback. Rumors of her having a crush on him. And her being adamant she didn't and him acting like it is true, of her liking him, invites her out one night during internship days. Got blurry she got drunk and told everyone that instead of her, her friend whom she asked to accompany her to the drinking sesh was the one who liked him and not her. And as she always had been, she forgot everything.

For years these continued. Her shrugging him off. And him turning into a manwhore after a 8-year relationship break up. She ignored his existence deep down inside but still acts professionally towards him. They are in the same department after all.

Until the day of selection for chief of residency. Election for candidates revealed the top 3 surgeons. CIM grad, him and surprisingly, her. Janina is an excellent surgeon coming from one of the most prestigious schools in the country and has leadership skills to boot. Cut throat and gets everything she wanted. She has a boyfriend who was the top 3 in their board exam and him being one of the top notchers also was included in the selection, and her the wildcard. Apparently, most of the consultants in their department voted for Janina, also an alumnus in the most prestigious school. It was a given. The other men voted for Niccolo being an the chief, they were both groomed to be vying for chief residency spot since our pre residency days. And there is her. She was included from the list being voted by the previous chief of residency. And the buzz now started.

When she was submitting her letter of being out from the election, he catches her up. He was leaning from the door she went into and looked at the paper on her hand and looked into her eyes for a few seconds. He smirked and she shrugged. After awhile, she realized it was the same as before, he voted for her as their leader in internship.

Flash back.

Insert internship days when she first found out of his existence and not just a name from the class list. He talked to her. Him pestering her and she just wants out from being a leader. Then it happened. She went back to her aloof self, and there were nothing much they can talk about. She kept talking to the girls and next to nill to the others. He soon found out that she is sweet and caring but only to the ones she can get comfortable with. It pissed him off. And soon they drifted apart.
