I’m departing

Shedding skin like an old reptilian friend you use to know

I’m molting

Growing out of old habits and making new ones for a new day

I’m retiring

Replacing cracked and worn glasses for a new pair of eyes

I’m withdrawing

Detoxing myself from the drugs that are far from antibiotics

I’m disappearing

Different parts of my mind are fading before I can copy down their thoughts

I’m moving

Packing up what’s left of my adolescence and saving it for storytime

I’m ascending

For once I am tall enough so that the light is finally in my reach

I’m diving

Searching in the depths of my subconscious to find new meanings

I’m quitting

Sending in a two weeks notice to managers that never fully paid me

I’m dumping

Dead weight use to sit on my back, now getting lighter and lighter

I’m embarking

Journeys to places I’ve dreamed and fantasized about for years

I’m releasing

Like a string on a wild beast, nothing can hold me down

I’m excluding

Somethings in my past are not always worth mentioning or remembering

I’m fleeing

Scenes of me timid and shaking are just figments of the past

I’m leaving

New strides are in my future and I’m taking big steps

I’m going

going

gone.
