Alicia
I woke up in an unfamiliar room, in an unfamiliar bed.
I then realized that I was in the city. I actually came here to help out my mom. I invited her over to my hotel room and to figure out her living situation.
At around 6:30 she finally knocked on my hotel room door.
I was actually surprised that they let her in, especially considering her crack head appearance.
"Mom!!" I said, hugging her. She smelled like period scent and b.o.
I immediately pulled away from her grasp and she heaved a big sigh. I smelled a whiff of her breath. I almost vomited.
"Mom, when was the last time you took a shower?" I asked.
"Sincceee I stayeddd with Kennethh." She stuttered.
"Mom, take off your coat. It smells." She took Off her coat and grabbed a baggie of white powder from her pocket.
I snatched it from her.
"Mommy!!! I thought you quit this!" I said, whining.
She shook her head, not saying much of anything. This was so not like her.
"Go to take a shower and I'll give you some fresh clothes."
I sat on my bed, head in my hands.
Dear God, please help my mom get better, stop using drugs and get her life back on track. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
I gave her my old Pink sweat suit and a pair of old puma running sneakers.
She put on her clothes.
"Thissss iss warmmm." She said, looking spaced out.
"Gottt anyyy foodddd?" She asked. I helped her to the fridge, where I had a container of lasagna and and sprite.
"Is this good?" I asked.
"Yeahhhh, delishhh."
She ate her food in silence. I looked in front of me at this woman who I used to call my mom. She looked so different. Where was her usual curly hair tied back into a ponytail? Where was her annoying laughing and warm smile? Most importantly, where was my mom and best friend?
"Thankssss." She said, picking up her coat.
"Is that it?" I asked, hugging her.
"Yeah, me and Kenneth gonnaaa doo ahh lill summ summ. " she winked.
"Bye mom." I said, wiping a stray tear that fell down my face.
She didn't respond and walked out.
Hakim
I was sitting in the bed, scrolling through channels by myself when Jace and Chantel came in.
"Yo! babe!" I exclaimed, half angry and half happy at the same time. "I been in here for almost a month and you guys haven't visited yet! ...Wait. Why are you two even together?"
"We just met up at the lobby." Chantel said.
"Anyway, how ya doin my n*gga? You found that truck driver yet?" Jace asked. "If you do, beat his ass."
Chantel bursted out laughing, smacking him on the arm.
"Ummm.. No." I said, letting out a chuckle.
"How is your legs feeling?" Chantel asked me, rubbing my sore legs.
"Not so good. Imma need physical therapy for a couple months." I told them, sighing.
"Aww, poor baby." Chantel said.
"Well, imma go take a nap." I said, yawning.
"Great! Bye!" Chantel said hurriedly and left.
I looked at her surprised.
"I mean, bye honey!" She waved, blowing a kiss.
"Bye Jace." I said, giving him a nod.

It was Sunday, and the club was closed because the hardwood floors were getting cleaned.
I didn't have anything to do, so decided to visit Hakim.
I jumped in my car and drove to the hospital and got in without a problem.
"Hey!" A nurse said to me. "Aren't you Hakims girlfriend?"
"No!" I said, chuckling. "Chantel is. She's that girl with the blondish hair."
"Oh. Umm..Sorry. I saw her and some guy earlier today kissing." she mumbled.
I walked up to the vending machine, picking up some sour skittles and a coffee cake.
"Did you get that for me!?" Hakim joked.
"No, but you can have the skittles." I said, giving him the bag.
"Thanks," he said, opening it.
"So, how have you been?" I asked while munching on a coffee cake.
"Good, I just miss walking, and stuff. I've been laying in the bed for the longest."
"Wow." I said. "How's-"
I was interrupted by the Nurse I had seen in the lobby come in.
"Hakim, I have great news!" She announced.
"What?" He asked.
"Well, your results came in and everything's good. You'll only have to be in physical therapy for at most, 2 months!"
"Yay!" I cheered, running my fingers along the back of Hakim's hands. He shook it off.
"You could help me when I'm in physical therapy!" Hakim shouted.
I hesitated.
"What about Chantel?" I asked.
"She can too. I was just saying that you had a car, that's why." He said.
"Great." The nurse said. "I'll leave you some paperwork, Hakim, and you can pick out a location closest to you for PT."
