Sam Flynn walked out of his office at Encom, and into the elevator. He sighed. It had been a long, unsatisfying day, and he'd had enough. He'd intended to stay longer, but right now, the last thing he wanted was extra work. He just wanted to go home and relax.

The elevator reached the basement level, and he walked into a deserted parking lot. The ducati sat there, pristine and shining in the bright neon of the overhead lights. Sam had to admit, the bike had lasted well. He pulled a helmet out of his backpack and put it on, starting the bike up.

It wasn't a long ride back to his home, a small apartment on the riverbank, with a perfect view of Encom Tower and the surrounding city.

Encom. His father's company.
His father's legacy.

He remembered the night the news had been broken. Kevin Flynn had disappeared, leaving only his family behind.

Of course, that was what the media had been told.

Kevin Flynn had been trapped within his latest project, The Grid. A digital frontier that he believed would reshape the human condition. Unable to reach the portal, Flynn had been forced to stay in hiding for 20 years to avoid CLU, the traitorous program that had deceived him. CLU had taken over the entire Grid in a matter of days, derezzing innocent programs and destroying the ISOs. After that, CLU paged Alan Bradley, a colleague of Flynn's, again fooling the outside world into believing that Flynn was calling for help. Alan alerted Sam, who dived into The Grid in an effort to save his father. After a tough battle through Lightcycle Arenas and Disc Wars, Sam finally came into contact with his father, and they began a sprint to the portal to escape CLU's reign.

It was an escape that had destroyed The Grid, and once again rendered Kevin Flynn missing.

Sam shuddered. He'd do anything to undo that last part. Even if it had been 3 years, he still hadn't forgotten the last moments of that fateful encounter.

As he pulled into the parking space, he noticed Quorra waiting for him, a worried expression on her face.

"It's the grid,", she mumbled.

"it's back online."
