Me: "Jeno? Jeno?!"
I slammed open the door to find him lying down on the floor, eyes closed and mouth sealed shut. As I audibly gasped, I ran and felt his wrist for a pulse, something to indicate that he was still alive and well.
There was nothing.
I began pressing down on his chest hoping he would cough up something or start spluttering everywhere. At this point I didn't care if I got dirty or not. My boyfriend was lying practically dead and I was physically and mentally drained. My lip began quivering, eyes started shaking and my whole body grew cold to the touch.
This couldn't be it.
Jeno couldn't leave me like this.
He couldn't leave without saying goodbye.
A loud cough broke me out of my train of thought and I almost screamed seeing his eyes shoot open and mouth moving.
He didn't leave without saying goodbye.
Me: "Jeno!"
I helped him up, pulling with all might and force to lift him off the ground and seat him down comfortably. We sat down on our bed and I stroked his back to ease his pain. After a while, he stopped coughing and turned to me with soft eyes.
Jeno: "I am so sorry to have scared you like that Y/N."
Me: "No don't say that- It's fine I promise. You'll be alright."
Jeno: "I don't know what happened- I-I just collapsed and my head went blank and my vision went black a-and-"
Me: "Shh. You don't need to say anything."
I put a finger to his lips and gently smiled to reassure him everything was fine now that I knew he wasn't dead.
Me: "What exactly happened?"
Jeno: "I-I don't know..."
Me: "Did you collapse here in-"
Jeno: "All I remember is being starving and overworking on my night shift and I came to change and then quickly get some food before I collapsed- Oh, that's it. I must've collapsed due to my hunger."
Me: "Let's go eat now then? You seem exhausted."
Jeno: "So do you. You have beads of sweat dripping down your face."
Me: "I do?"
Jeno: "Stay still."
He moved a strand of my hair back behind my ear and chuckled at me.
Jeno: "I really gave you a big fright didn't I?"
Me: "I wasn't going to believe that you'd just left me like that without saying goodbye..."
The thought of being separated from Jeno caused tears to slowly form in my eyes. I blinked, letting the glistening liquid fall freely down my face. It didn't drop. I felt a hand, something stopping the tear halfway from leaving my face. Opening my eyes, I saw Jeno frowning and wiping my tears.
Jeno: "Please don't cry. I'm right here Y/N."
Me: "You're going to leave me one day-"
Jeno: "No, no I won't. If I ever do I want to tell you something right now."
I tilted my head, a melancholy expression plastered to my face.
Me: "What is it?"
Jeno: "Y/N L/N, how long has it been since your pretty face has woke up next to me every morning? It feels like I've always known you and loved you. It has been exactly 4 years, 3 months and 2 weeks since we first met. You know how we first met. You offered me your umbrella when it was pouring and I was rushing back from work. As soon as I saw you I knew, I just knew you were the one. Your captivating eyes and mesmerising beauty just said that you and I were meant to be together. I feel bad that you didn't have an umbrella to walk home with that day as you gave me yours. That particular rainy day, I just wish I was there to hold your hand and safely walk you home. You're too good for this world. Too good for me. I still wonder how I was able to swoon you and win you over."
Me: "I don't. Ever since I saw you smile I knew I was going to miss you immensely everytime you were away from me, everytime you had to leave for work or business. I know we can't always spend time together but the times we do, I-"
Both: "Want them to last forever."
His mouth dropped slightly and so did mine. He smiled with teary eyes and intertwined his hand with mine.
His hands were warm, just like his smile.
Jeno: "How about some dinner before I collapse again?"
Me: "Hey don't say that."
Jeno: "What if I fall?"
Me: "You won't-"
Jeno: "I will. If it's for you."
Me: "I-"
Jeno: "Love you. Won't you fall for me too?"
Me: "I already have."
