(Cassie’s PoV)

The weather was cold. Unfortunately, I’d forgotten my jacket. Once Danny had noticed me shivering, he offered me his.

“You really don’t have to.” I told him. It wasn’t me being polite or anything. I just didn’t want him to get cold, though I kept that fact to myself.

“I want to.” He gave me a cheeky smile. Gosh, could this boy get any cuter? His eyes were a deep blue, his brown hair messy beyond belief. And a gentleman, to boot.

“So… you still haven’t told me your name.” Danny told me as we sat down on a park bench. Admittedly, I had no idea where we were. While the park looked familiar, I didn’t think it was anywhere near my house. How long had we been walking?”

“Cassie.” I told him, though our conversation had become an afterthought as I puzzled over how I was going to get home. It was almost dark, and I barely knew this guy. Regardless of how adorable he was, I wasn’t ready to trust him.

“Cool.” He said somewhat awkwardly. It was obvious that he wasn’t sure what to say or do. “You already know my name, of course.”

“How could I forget?” I said jokingly, though it came out somewhat rudely. He looked down, making me feel bad.

“Sorry. I didn’t mean it like that.”

“It’s fine.” He smiled, though it seemed hesitant. Crap. I was screwing this up.

Why had I even come anyways? Needing a place to go and something to do until Tanden had cooled down wasn’t a good enough reason to drag this poor guy around with me. Though Danny didn’t seem to mind, it didn’t sit right with my conscience.

“I think I need to go soon.” I told him, and despite our lack of actual conversation, he seemed somewhat disappointed.

"Let's just talk for a little longer." He negotiated, and I nodded.

We began to talk about random things until an hour had flown by. It was as though we had both forgotten that I needed to leave and gotten caught in the moment. To be honest, this guy wasn’t all that bad.

He was great, actually.

“Crap.” Danny said suddenly, looking down at his phone. It was then that I noticed the collection of bracelets stacked up on either of his wrists. They were just another thing to add to the little things about him that I thought were adorable.

“What is it?” I asked, forcing my eyes away from his arms.

“I’m supposed to meet my friend Paul for pizza in about five minutes.”

“Then you’d better get going.” I told him with a smile. Of course I had realized that he was going to leave eventually, seeing as how all good things come to an end. That hadn’t meant I was looking forward to it.

“But I should walk you home.”

“It’s fine.” I reassured him with a smile, despite the fact that I had no clue how to get to my house from here. “Go have fun.” Since when had I started sounding like an old lady?

He sat for a moment, considering. Probably wondering how he should say farewell, maybe even if he should give me his number. I’d willingly take it, of course.

“How about you come with me?” He asked with a cheeky grin. “You can meet Paul and maybe even eat some pizza.”

“Sure.” I smiled back at him. “That sounds like a great idea.”
