small talk to insults ༉‧₊˚✧
chiyuki lay her head on her forearms. the teacher drone on, but it was just another white noise in the back of her head. she focused on keeping the tickle in her throat, in her throat. her eyes darted from the fabric of her sweater to the notches in the window sill. the window, cracked open, carried in a soft wind that fueled the girl's goosebumps. she could hear the cicadas singing as the sun beat down on their neighborhoods. the sweat in every student's palms and on every student's nose grew because of the merciless sun.
" and don't forget your presentation is due next week ! " the teacher said as the dismissal bell rang. chiyuki stretched her body, almost like a cat, and gathered her books. she made her way to her partner, iwaizumi. iwaizumi and her had only met a couple of months ago. about a week into them meeting, the disease blossomed. at first the flower petals were small, little daisies, lobelias, and wild flowers chiyuki didn't bother to research, but as the two grew closer, the petals grew bigger. camellias, rose petals. now day-lilies, peonies, amaryllis. the petals kept getting bigger, more being coughed up each day. there was no reason in chiyuki distancing herself from the boy, it was love or death for her.
" have we got anything done ? " she plopped on the chair in front of his desk.
iwaizumi ran his hand through his hair. " maybe the title and slide color ? " he said uncertainly.
" we agreed that you were going to research and i was going to type it down . i can't put it down if there's no research . " chiyuki said flatly, rubbing her eyebrows.
iwaizumi sighed and tapped his fingers. " i have practice , but after i could come over and we can maybe get some work done . "
" oh god , does it have to be at my house ? " the girl groaned. she hated her home. her slob of a stepfather and augean of a mother contaminated the house with their intense aura's. chiyuki couldn't stand when her stepfather belched or the sound of him scratching his beard. her ears bleed at the sound of her mother's complains and rants. although unpleasant, the two were not bad people, chiyuki was just irritable.
" my place is cool too , if you don't mind obnoxious little boys and the smell of gasoline . " iwaizumi said.
if there's anything chiyuki hated more than her parents, it was children and gasoline.
" gasoline ? " chiyuki yawned and twirled her pencil.
" my dad's a car guy . really into that stuff . "
" eugh. my place is fine . " she coughed. " would it be cool if i could stay and watch practice ? i do not want to go home . "
iwaizumi began placing his books into his bag. " i'm sure shitty - kawa won't mind a girl around. self absorbed prick . " he made sure to mumble the last
part.the two walked to the gym. chiyuki was greeted by many boys, and the infamous ' shitty - kawa '. however, none of these boy's enriched her stomach garden. she took a seat on a bench near the manager, not bothering to make conversation or watch the practice match. halfway through the match, a player sat beside chiyuki clenching his jaw. she surveyed his looks, lightly snorting when her mind processed the two black stripes across his shaved hair.
hearing her giggle, the boy glared. " what , do you have a problem ? " his growl turned into a cough. the striped boy turned and coughed into his elbow, pulling out a bloody petal from the crevice.
