I pressed the button labeled "1" and waited as the elevator climbed to the first floor of rooms. I couldn't help but be angry about what happened to poor Linn. Our number one rule here at The Bat House is "condoms are required". This is to protect all of our workers as well as our clients. When I heard the elevator ding, I exited and walked to where I saw a door cracked with the number "7" on it.

"Your tip will be $50 extra and you will leave here immediately. What you pulled was a breach of rules put into place by the owner of this building. If you don't comply we will call the police," A voice boomed as I walked in. Ranjo was doing his job. A job he is so great at. Ranjo had grabbed the client by the shirt so they could talk face-to-face. The client was clearly uncomfortable, just what I wanted to see.

"Okay, okay!" the client exclaimed, putting his hands up to shield himself. "I'll tip extra! Just please let me go. I'll leave!" The client was frantic, I could barely hold in a laugh.

"Good. Don't even think about coming back either," Ranjo sighed, letting go of the client. The client quickly brought out his wallet, threw whatever bill he could find first on the bedside table and booked it out of the room. Ranjo examined the bill. "No amount of cash could ever make up for what that bastard did to Linn, but this will do for now," he scoffed. We left the $100 there for the cleaning service to sort later.

After that mess, we boarded the elevator to return to our posts in the lobby.

I gently took his hand and smiled, "Thank you, Papa, for your work." He returned the smile and quickly broke eye contact with me.

"It's no problem, ma'am. Just doing my job," he replied with a nervous tone. With this, I returned to the front desk and thanked Remi for coming on such a short notice. What happened to Linn was unforgivable and I knew he deserved more than that tip. I checked the time on the computer, it read 2:01. A little less than an hour before we stopped taking orders. I would just sit and wait as the time passed, quietly checking in our next guests.
