It's been a while since I've been here. A few long years. I graduate college tommorrow. I love my school, but my dad told me that I could see Chase before I graduate. He knows about Cornells, but our family keeps it a secret. My brother is back to normal now, but he still has an occasional nightmare that he talks to me about over the phone. He got a great job as the assistant manager of creature discovery science last year and he loves it. I still remember my mother, and I see her every night in my dreams. I walk into the big school named North Way High, and I can see that they have not re-done the messy lettering on the door. This makes me smile. School has ended a few minutes ago, so the hallways are still pretty full. I don't have to worry about Jackson or Master Finn anymore because they got caught doing another evil scheme and are now working for Sorins. They have to brush their wings and act like gentlemen. I walk to the library. I remember the first time I was here. I wasn't sure if the man pulling me into a bookshelf was a mass killer, or someone with a huge book obsession. I didn't think that he would be the one I've been in love with for years. I walk to the exact place I remember where Chase lived to stay away from the evil energy filling his home. I pull the "book" from the shelf and the door opens. The lights are on, so I walk in, but I don't see anyone. I walk further in.
"Chase?" I ask. "Are you here?" No answer. All of the sudden, I feel him hug me from behind and we laugh. We spin around the room until we get to dizzy and fall over. We laugh even harder when we reach the ground.
"Hey." He smiles.
"Hey." I smile back. "It's been a long two weeks since our movie date." I say. He laughs and nods.
"So, I finally got my confirmation on the sheet. I can now legally work in the real world. I can start entering job applications tomorrow when I graduate from college. I'm so happy I don't have to worry about not being able to control my tempers and powers. See?" He holds my hand, but I don't feel a hypnotic force. Not one bit, "But now watch," something changes and all of the sudden he feels enchanted.
"Great work. I'm so proud of you." I say with an encouraging smile.
"But I have much bigger plans than a job in the real world." He starts.
"And what's that?" I ask sweetly. He looks a little nervous.
"Well, we've been dating for a good seven years, with no issues and... well..." he gets something out of his pocket.
"I already talked to your dad and he thinks it's appropriate since I'm turning 24 and your turning 23 this year that I could ask..." he puts the object into view. It's a small black box. He opens it.
"Will you marry me?" He asks. Inside the box is the most beautiful Dimond ring I've ever seen in my life. "The ring is nice huh? I spent all of my allowance and some of your family's money to pay for it because you mean so much to me. I hope you like it, and I hope you give me the answer I'm praying for." He says. I don't even have to think about it.
"Yes. A million times, every day, yes!" I scream in happiness. He gives a sigh of relief and takes the ring out from the box. He kneels down and gently slides it around my finger. He kisses my hand. I blush.
"And that, was the exact answer I was looking for. Since I saw the determination in your eyes for your brother when things were uphill. We were foolish and young back then, but I'm excited to see what the world has in store for us in the future. As long as I'm with you, I'll be just fine." He says. My eyes tear up in love and happiness.
"I love you." We say in sync. Yes. God has rewarded me today, and forever.*The End*
