Getting drove back to the mansion from school was filled with pure silence. I thought back to what that girl said about the basement, Kitty.
I wonder if I'll ever see her again.
I want to know what she was talking about, but I don't have a clue as to where to start searching. I could go intangible through the ground until I find something, but I don't trust myself enough to not get stuck.
So, I'll wander the lower floor for an entrance.
The driver shifts the gear to park and I hop out. Vlad takes his sweet time behind me but I pay him no mind.
I have work to do and a portal to find.
First, I make my way to the room I am occupying to get started on any catch-up work. Mainly Algebra, but Biology also wanted my non-school life to be busy.
After a hot minute of trying my best on all class papers, my eyes feel heavy and my mind wants me to sleep.
But instead I pack my things so my rush to school will be less rushed tomorrow morning.
Feeling mentally exhausted, I sit on the room's couch. Feeling a little drowsy, I lean my head back to rest my eyes.
Resting my eyes turned into a three hour nap.
I wake up to a knock at the door. Disoriented, but responsive, I say, "Open!" My voice hoarse with the position I was in. No doubt I snored.
The door opens to Bradley. The ghost butler. My main buddy. Mr. Joyful.
"Dinner is ready when you are, sir Daniel." Sir? Since when? He dismisses himself quickly without so much as a backwards glance.
I yawn and stand. Looking at my attire, I'm still is part of my uniform.
I still have on my shoes, pants, suspenders, and shirt. My tie hanging loosely from around my neck. I look over to the work desk and chair and dang, the chair looks better in uniform than me with my jacket hanging from it like that.
I take off the amulet from around my neck to drop it on the soft cushions of the couch, covering it with a pillow. Don't want Fruitloop asking about the ribbon sticking out from under my shirt.
I try to flatten my shirt down and reclip the slightly crooked suspender. Running my hand through my messy, but still sort of gelled hair to presentable.
I rush out the door to the downstairs.
Reaching the staircase, I realize something. I fell asleep before I could search for the basement darn it!
I'll start after dinner then.
I jump the last few steps to the dedicated hall to the Packers. The faster I get down there then the faster I eat is the faster I get to start my search. It shouldn't be too hard. But then again this place has a huge ground floor.
I hasten my pace to the dining room as I fold my sleeves to my elbows. I'm disappointed I didn't have time to switch clothes.
I reach the archway opening to the longer than necessary table with an occupied Vladimir sitting in the grandest chair at the end. He's reading a book with a green tinted cover. Yellow aged pages. It's one of his many collection books I saw in his study.
