Leslie’s POV:
I needed to escape the torture & feel free. I felt the tears burning my eyes as I grabbed my longboard & ran out the door ignoring the hurtful shouts from my parents. As soon as I got to a respectable distance from my home I got on my board & rode. I didn’t know where I was going, I just needed to get out for a while. I was riding to the beach near my house. It was cold, the pre-winter breeze nipping at my skin. I didn’t care if I got a cold. Nothing seemed important to me anymore. I had been failing most of my school work because I didn’t understand any of it & I am a slow learner. I tried explaining to my parents but they said I was either “lying” or “making up excuses”. They never listened to me anymore. I gave up trying to reason with them because I knew it would get me nowhere. My only escape was self-harm & longboarding. Those were my two main ways of relaxing. I couldn’t wait to leave school & show my parents what I’m capable of.
I kept riding not paying attention to anything around me when suddenly I crashed into someone skateboarding, both of us falling over & our boards riding off.
"Oh my god I’m so sorry" I said as I quickly slapped away the fresh tears trickling down my face, not looking up once to hide my flushed cheeks.
"That’s okay, it wasn’t your fault. I should have checked before I turned the corner" responded the voice of a british person.
"No no, it was my fault I was lost in thought & didn’t see I was crossing another road" I replied slowly peeking through my blonde strands of hair.
"Are you okay? You’re not hurt are you?" replied this person.
"I’m fine, I have hurt myself worse" I chuckled looking up. I have never seen someone so perfect in my life. I examined his face for longer than needed. He had chocolate brown eyes & brown hair that fit his face perfectly. He was tan & his heart-warming smile made me melt inside.
"Okay good. I’m Dan by the way" Replied the boy. He looked to be about 19.
"Leslie" I mumbled before looking down quickly realizing how creepy I was was being for staring. I couldn’t help it. He was gorgeous.
Dan POV:
I was riding down the street, examining my new home. I had moved here a few days ago. My mum had gotten transferred from London to California. I like it here, it was beautiful. We lived by the beach. I told mum I was going to skateboard to the beach & look around.
I was lost in thought about how I was going to make new American friends. I was excited for this. I had never had American friends before. This was going to be different.
I guess I was so lost in thought that I had ran into another person longboarding. I saw a flash of blonde hair before I fell over landing straight on my bum as my skateboard rolled away into a patch of grass nearby.
"Oh my god I’m so sorry" said a girl with an American accent.
After we exchanged apologies, she looked up at me. I couldn’t help but stare. She was stunning. She had blonde hair down to her shoulders. Eyes as blue as the sky. She was little & tan. She looked at least 17 or 18.
I coughed awkwardly realizing I was staring straight at her.
"Okay good. I’m Dan by the way" I said breaking the awkward silence.
"Leslie" she said quietly. Finally a name to go with that breath-taking face.
"You have a beautiful name. Are you heading to the beach by any chance?" I asked hoping she was so I could have an excuse to be with her more.
"Yes I am" She giggled before hiding her face behind her hair.
God she was gorgeous.
