The next day at school, Jasper, Edward, Bella and I all arrived together. Everyone was staring. It was funny and amazing. Everyone was shocked that Bella got with Edward and people literally never seem to get over the fact that Jasper got a girlfriend. Or as Eric likes to put it 'can't believe he got such a gorgeous girlfriend.' Which I didn't believe a word of, but it seemed that rumours supported Eric's words more than I thought. Edward and Jasper found all of this highly amusing. Apparently people's emotions and thoughts were all over the place and it was hilarious.

At lunch Bella got a message from dad and she turned to me "Dad said he wants us to go out for dinner tonight. Says he doesn't want to stress us out with cooking." She said to me with a happy smiling face. I don't think I could put into words how happy I was just to see her smile like that, and know she is genuinely happy.

"I suppose we're meeting him there after school?" I ask her and she nods. "Don't you have a biology project to work on?" I asked her subtly gesturing to Edward, making Bella blush. My thoughts and laughter clearly caught Edwards attention as Bella slapped my arm. She knew I was right though. The others all looked at me with highly amused faces trying not to laugh, even Rose was finding it difficult.

That afternoon after school I met dad on time and told him that Bella would be a little late so we should order her food for her. When I saw Bella walking up I saw Mike catch her attention and I could hear their conversation. "Yo, Arizona. So. You and (y/n) are with the Cullens?" She shrugs, non-committal, but can't entirely hide a smile, as she hurries inside to our table and slides in.

"Sorry I'm late. Biology project." She said apologetically although I knew she wasn't sorry at all. Cora sets a top sirloin steak in front of Dad, plate of seafood in front of Bella, and a barque pulled pork burger in front of me.

" (y/n) ordered you the seafood combo. Hope you don't mind." Dad told her, I knew she loved seafood so it seemed perfect.

"(Y/n) knows what I like so this is perfect. And I think you should order one yourself next time. You should cut back on the steak." She said to him as we all tucked into our meals.

"I'm healthy as a horse." Dad said proudly. Cora the lovely waitress then came over with a concerned and saddened look on her face. I immediately knew what this was about.

"Say Chief, boys want to know, you find anything down by Queets River today?" She asked in a weak voice. Dad was aware of the loggers at the counter listening, too. He frames his answer carefully to keep everyone calm.

"The suspect's moving east. Kitsap County Sheriff is taking over from here. They're putting extra guys on." He says comfortingly but also carefully.

"Hope they catch him fast." She replies hopefully. She moves off, with a measure of relief. Dad and Bella pass each other the salt, butter for bread, with an easy rhythm now. It's great to see them finally getting to grips with each other again.

"Your friends are flagging you both." Dad said gesturing to the window. Bella turns and I lean around, to see Mike and the guys horsing around outside, straws in their noses, making faces at us. We both smile and giggle at their idiocy. "It's okay if you wanna join them. I'm just gonna turn in early anyway." Dad said.

"Yeah, me, too." Bella and I both responded at the same time making us all laugh. But dad then sighed a little.

"It's a Friday night. Go out. The Newton boy's got a big smile for you both. Nice family, the Newtons." He was clearly trying to encourage us to be more social.

"He's just a friend." Bella says blatantly. Dad looked at her with a face that I can only describe as curious and fatherly.

"None of the boys in town interest you?" He asked.
