Personal comments - This manhwa has three names as listed in the title. 1. Doctor Elise 2. Queen With A Scalpel 3. The Lady With A Lantern More often than not it's recognized by the first and second name. I've rarely heard the third one in use.
So, Elise is a good character. I love her. She may have been a flawed character, a villainess, pre-reincarnation, but about as much as we see of her, she's a fine character. She's generous, kind, selfless. It maybe a way of redeeming herself of her past sins. But she's undeniably a good person. And she's a doctor. Respecc.
In a lot of senses, Doctor Elise reminds me of The Abandoned Empress. I mean the relationship between the male and female leads and the way she wants outta the engagement and he's confused and wanna know why and don't want her to leave and then falls in love with her and... Yeah, that kinda thing. But I gotta say I love Linden more. I love Ruvellis too. I understand the previous life actions weren't his intentions. I read some novel spoiler which made some things clear. But that still doesn't make me forgive his actions. Linden, however, though he did kill Elise in her previous life, I can't really blame him. I mean, he was a bit extreme. But she was too. She was a terrible queen. A queen, or was she the empress?, is supposed to be the mother of the empire. Elise utterly failed in that aspect. Though that didn't mean he needed to kill her. Actually, now that I think about it, I don't really know why Linden killed her that time. I maybe forgetting something or perhaps it was never mentioned in the manhwa.
Moving on. Linden is a sweetheart. I love him. In the later chapters of Doctor Elise, after he realized his love for her, he's been so sweet and caring and so adorably clingy to her it melts my heart. The tables have turned. While in the previous life it was Elise clinging to Linden for his attention, this time it's the other way around. This manhwa is actually truly deserving of the title "Your Turn To Chase After Me". Sadly that's taken by an awful manhua on WebComics already. But this is the real thing, I'm telling ya.
