•The Next Morning•
The sun was shining through the windows of Steve and Bucky's apartment creating a warm glow. Steve rolled over to face Bucky's side of the bed to see the super soldier sleeping calmly with his hand loosely holding onto Steve. Steve carefully removed Bucky's hand and crawled out of the bed being sure not to wake Bucky. Steve quietly walked to the bathroom and crept in, he peered in the mirror to inspect the wound on his face. It was a clean cut almost enough for a stitch. Steve washed away any of the remaining blood on his chin and cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide. It looked much better after Steve had finished, the laceration was only a bit swollen with purple only coloring the edges. Steve walked back into the bedroom to find Bucky still sound asleep. Steve smiled at the fact that Bucky was resting peacefully now. Steve slowly inched his way back under the covers just as Bucky began to stir. Bucky opened his eyes to see Steve softly brushing his hair out of his face. Bucky leaned his head into Steve touch, relinquishing the feeing of being loved. "How are you feeling?" Steve worriedly asked. Bucky looked into Steve's big blue eyes and felt the whole world melt away momentarily. "Better...much better." Then Bucky let his eyes travel to the cut on Steve's chin, Bucky felt so guilty for hurting Steve even if the injury was nothing compared to what Steve had experienced in the past. "I'm sorry I hurt you, I promised myself I would never do that again." Bucky said regretfully. "Bucky you didn't hurt me...I'm fine...it's ok." All Bucky could do in that moment was stare at Steve with a feeling of complete and udder love and compassion that only your sole mate could make you feel. "I love you." Is all Bucky could manage to say. In that moment all Bucky could think about while he stared at Steve was that he never wanted to be with anyone else and that the person laying right in front of him was the light of his life. "Will you marry me?" The words slipped out of Bucky's mouth at not even a whisper before he could think about what he was saying, but he didn't regret saying those fateful words for a second because he wanted to marry Steve more than he had ever wanted anything else in his life before. Steve's eyes went wide and the biggest and sweetest smile Bucky has ever seen stretched across Steve's face. "Yes. More than anything yes!" Steve exclaimed while leaning into kiss Bucky. Bucky smiled into the kiss with the best feeling he had ever felt before in his life. After they finished kissing Bucky happily said "I don't know what I ever did to deserve you." Steve then looked Bucky right in the eyes and stared at him for a moment. "Bucky you saved me." Bucky looked at Steve with the most compassion any one has ever felt for their partner in history. All Bucky could say was "I love you more than anything" Steve felt so blessed to have such an amazing person be his one and only for the rest of his life. "I love you too, so very much" and with that they shared one more kiss before getting out of bed. While Steve lifted up the covers to the bed and climbed out of their bed still overflowing with happiness said "You know Natashas going to be so exited to help pick out decorations." Bucky smiled and nodded knowing that she will be ecstatic to help with the wedding planning. "Ya she's going to have a blast."
