It had been a while since I drove.
I glanced at my boyfriend once every now and then.
'Keep your eyes on the road, you fool'
'Forgive me, you're just so beautiful,' I flirted, again.
I could see the corner of his lips move up which he hid by biting his lower lip.
I felt proud of myself.
But you see, there are times when the most unexpected things that happen at the most unexpected times. And I guess, this was such.
When the boy looked at me, I stared back into his eyes, a smile on my face, which disappeared as soon as it appeared, cause when the two headlights came at full speed from where he sat and smashed into the side, I think in that mere second I prayed that nothing happens to him, rather to me instead.
The car rolled over a number of times.
Windscreen, side mirrors breaking into tiny pieces.
The next thing I know when I opened my eyes, I was stuck in my seat still, and there was blood.
A lot of it.
'Donghyuck...'
I couldn't keep my eyes open. I was dizzy.
When the boy didn't reply to me, I started to panic.
'Baby..'
I tried unbuckling, pulling the belt off me but it was stuck.
Blood dripped from the boy's head and everywhere else. Arms limp, hanging loose on the ground.
'Oh god... Donghyuck!'
I screamed for help. Begged for any nonexistence force to not take him away from me.
Please.
I screamed again.
In the end, however, when I somehow managed to fall on the ground covered in broken mirrors, I didn't wait to check for any cuts. I crawled out, running to the other side and did my best to drag the boy out.
He never woke up.
I don't remember how long I sat on that road, trying to get him to breathe again.
I embraced his body tightly, crying.
Just a little longer.
One more day.
Take me instead.
Let me have one more day with him than I'll leave him alone.
