"Charlie, babe, don't be like that! You-" Alejandro tried to defend himself but Charlie Girl was having none of that.

"Fuck you! I don't understand why you're still entertaining that trick in the first damn place," Charlie growled.

"Char-"

"I said what the hell I said!"

Alejandro sighed heavily, looking over at the beautifully stubborn woman he loved. What was he going to do with her?  He didn't see what the big deal was. He was simply doing what he thought was the right thing to do.

With a ding, the elevator doors opened and Charlie stomped out and promptly took a seat in a nearby waiting area.

"Babe, what are you doing? You're not going with me?"

Charlie glared up at him. "No. I'm giving you ten minutes to say whatever you feel you gotta say to that chick. You forget me and that bitch ain't friends and you ain't her man. Don't make me get indignant in this damn hospital. Now gone."

Alejandro shook his head. He couldn't believe how petty Charlie was being. Without another word he turned on his heel and headed for Alyssa's hospital room.

Charlie sucked her teeth. She couldn't begin to understand why Alejandro was being so stupid behind his slutty ex. She could have sworn the man said he didn't want to have anything to do with her once the shit hit the fan. Right? She was pretty damn sure what he'd said months ago. She just couldn't understand it. So what if the bitch had the baby? What was it to him? It wasn't his. Or was that a lie too?

"That muth-" Before Charlie could finish her words, her cell phone started ringing. It was Granny. She quickly accepted the call. "Hey, Granny. You okay?"

"Yeah. I was just lettin' you know I was home if you and Ali wanted to stop by."

At the mention of Granny's nickname for Alejandro, Charlie couldn't help but roll her eyes and suck her teeth.

"What's wrong wit'chu?" Charlie didn't say anything. "Charlie Girl, what's wrong wit'chu and don't make me ask again," Granny demanded to know. Charlie sighed heavily and began to tell Granny what was going on.

"Big Mama, why he feel the need to take on a responsibility that ain't his? I get he feel some kind of way but damn, just buy some pampers and gone about his business.  But no! He feels like he should help Alyssa with the baby. Trying to step in as the daddy n'shit. UGh!"

"And? What's wrong with that?" Granny wanted to know. "You knew the kind of man he was before you and him got together. Why be pissed at the man for sticking to his morals and doing what he feels he has to do?"

"The baby ain't his! Why is he wanting to take care of a kid that's not his? To hell with that bitch and that baby. Single mothers raise their kids alone everyday. She ain't no exception."

"Charlie Waters! You should be ashamed of yo'self!" Granny chided. "That baby lost its father and a damned good man wants to step in to help raise it, and you got a problem with it? You done lost yo' gotdamn mind. You sound like those ass backward bitter women sittin' on they ass talking down about good people to make they self feel better 'bout they self. You know better than that. I taught you better than that! If you was here I whup yo' ass for the shit coming out of your damn mouth,li'l girl!"

"Grann-"

"Don't you Granny me! That baby didn't get a say in how it was brought into this world! The sins of the mama and daddy shouldn't be poured onto that child. You actin' so damn childish. You can dislike the mama all day long if you wanna but you better get your act together and support that man when he say he wanna do right by that baby. If you can't stand by him after all the shit he's done and gone through by standing by you, you don't deserve him. Alejandro is a damned good man and deserves to have a good woman by his side. Not a petty little girl. Get your shit together, Charlie." With that Granny hung up on Charlie. She couldn't believe how her grand-daughter was acting.
