When Paths Change

Chapter 1: The Story Begins

It was a warm and breezy day in the quiet and small town of Littleroot. The town consisted of a few two-story houses and the lab of the famous Professor Birch. The wild Taillows and Wingulls flew over the sleepy town... however there were two youths that were not as sleepy as the town...

Kodaka, a boy of 14 years of age with dirty blonde hair and delinquent like features, bolted out of his bed the second his alarm rang. He went to his window and opened it quickly.

"Hey!", he shouted to his next door neighbor's window, "Wake up! Lukas, it's the day!"

His neighbor opened his window slowly and yawned. Lukas was the same age as Kodaka except a few months older, he was shorter, had darker skin, and had black, shoulder length hair.

"Hm? What day?", he said lazily.

"It's the day we start our journey, you idiot!"

"Wait! Already!? I need to get changed!", Lukas closed his window, so did Kodaka, and they both rapidly got changed and sped out their homes towards Professor Birch's Lab.

They were both panting heavily as they arrived in front of the lab. They both took a moment to catch their breath.

"We're... finally here...", Kodaka said between deep breaths.

"Heh... yeah...", Lukas smiled and chuckled a bit.

"Are you ready?", said Kodaka as he put his hand on the lab's front door.

Lukas nodded and also put his hand on door and together they pushed it open, the doorway to their adventure...
