Chapter 1:The crime

An orchestra played classical music in the background as billionaires drank wine and stuffed their faces with mini sandwiches and the finest wines.Katherine Chesterain was among them; gazing out of the large windows into the New York busy streets.Her strawberry blonde hair was put into a neat bun, her dress was a deep red up to mid thigh and her glittering stilettos matched.As Katherine stood alone,Alexander Humberton watched her.He wondered what she thinking about.Curious,the billionaire approached her.

"Why what is such a beautiful lady doing here on her own?"Alex questioned whilst kissing her hand.Katherine smiled as she straightened up her posture.Before she could say anything,her cousin Cecilia BraurdFaurd approached in her slutty light blue dress that reached just below her bum.

"Hey Alex!" she said whilst stroking his arm.Alexander looked slightly disgusted as he muttered a reply.Cecilia took no notice as she offered to go get some wine with him.He politely declined before shooing her off.

Katherine giggled silently however she was grateful.

Cecilia glared at Katherine as she walked up the stairs.

"I'll show that spoiled brat what life feels like when you take someone you love away from you! "

Katherine's POV

I wondered where Cecilia had gone.I thought nothing of it as I smiled at the mayor or shall I say my dad.He had worked hard for many years and  had eventually  been elected.This was his party and he had invited so many people;mostly rich of course.

So deep in my thoughts,I realized Alex was being bombarded by a bunch of photographers.He smirked at me as he pulled me to his side for the pictures.I furiously blushed but he seemed so calm.Besides,I had known him since I was six.Now eighteen years later I blushed at his every touch.

Jacqueline, Cecilia's brother, tapped my shoulder as I smiled.He asked if I had seen his sister.I told she was upstairs probably with some random guy.

Jacqueline clenched his jaw when I told him .He looked almost  frightened however he was a detective and a spy so I didn't think to much of it.He excused himself before scrambling up the wounding stairs.

Hours passed as suspicion grew as to where my father had gone?Uncertainty took over me as I ambled up the stairs into the hallway. Cecilia was washing her hands in the bathroom with the door wide open for some reason.I thought nothing of it as I kept walking.Luke Miller and Jack Jones,my childhood bullies,walked past me as they leered.Who had invited them here? Yes their parents were well known musicians 

3rd POV

Katherine opened the door to her father's room.Her father lay lifeless, sprawled on the floor with a slit throat oozing clotty blood.A bloody carving knife lay beside the grotesque scene as her father's eyes strayed opened and terrified from the truly tragic death.Utter shock and horror encased her as she screamed for Alexander.

Moments later Alex was by her side.His eyebrows furrowed in disbelief as he called 911.

Katherine cried as she remembered the lovely moments she had with her father.

Only two things clouded her mind...Who and why...?
