Casey was just coming out of the movie theater. She was walking back to her house after she said goodbye to her friends. It was late at night, about 10:30. It was cold andthere was a thin layer of snow on the ground. Casey lived close to the movie theater, so that’s why she would usually just walk home. What’s that noise? Casey thought, It’s probably just a squirrel or something. Casey tried to reassure herself, but something seemed off, like she kept hearing footsteps behind her.
Casey turned around, but nothing was there. She kept walking, but this time she quickened her pace a little. She heard the footsteps again, but this time they seemed to becoming closer and getting louder. Just then, something covered her mouth, someone’s hand, preventing her from screaming, she felt something cold and thin touch her neck.
“Scream and I’ll kill you.” Casey was very frightened, she knew this voice now was a male’s voice, but she didn’t know whose. She let out a strangled cry, she felt the blade getting harder on her neck. “I don’t think that’s such a good idea, now be a good little girl and follow me or you will die, right now.” Casey tried to stay put, but he was pulling her into this dark alley.
“Stay quiet,” he warned. She did what he said, not wanting to get hurt. She still felt the blade on her neck, it was getting tighter and tighter. He then pushed Casey against the wall. She looked around the alley, there was no way out.
Casey looked over at the man, he was not covering her mouth anymore, but the blade was still against her neck if she tried to scream. The man had short, dark brown hair, it was shaved and he had light, emerald green eyes. He was probably about six feet, which is much taller than Casey who was only five feet two inches. “What’s your name,” he asked. She didn’t answer. He tightened the knife on her neck. “I said, what is your name!?”
“M-my name is C-casey.”
“Casey. That’s a nice name. You could be of good use to me.” Casey began to get scared. She didn’t know what to do. She didn’t have her phone or any sort of weapon to try and escape.
“What’s y-your name?” Casey asked.
“My name? You want to know my name? Will that make you happy, my love? Well, if I must tell you, my name is Rick.” My love? Casey thought. Wow, he’s a creep. Casey put her hands in her pockets, the knife was not on her neck anymore, but Rick was still holding it. Casey felt something in her pocket, a key. The key to her house. That’s it! Casey thought. She held the key with her hand and put her fist around it so point was facing up. It took all of Casey’s courage, but she did it.
While Rick was distracted, she took the key and sliced him across the side of his face with it. Casey could hear Rick screaming and him yelling at her that this wasn’t over, she didn’t listen, she didn’t even look back, she just kept running. Running as fast as she could, she needed to get home, in her room. I can’t tell my parents. They would be worried. Getting the police involved wouldn’t do any good. I don’t know what this man is capable of. Casey thought. Casey was scared, but she could think about this later, right now she just had to get home. When she saw her house she took the key and turned the lock. She swung the door open and shut it as fast as she could, locking it behind her.
Casey’s parents were probably already in bed and she didn’t want to disturb them so she tried to be very quiet. Casey was so frightened, but she was also so exhausted she decided to go up into her room and try to sleep. She hopped into bed and tried to forget the events of what just happened a few minutes ago. It took Casey a few hours to get to sleep and when she did fall asleep she was always tossing and turning. Casey wasn’tsleeping very well and she would wake up many times in the middle of the night with a thin layer of sweat coated on her forehead.
After a fitful night of sleep, if you could even call it sleep, Casey got up and changed. She then brushed her teeth and hair then went downstairs for some breakfast. Both her parents were up, Casey said her hellos to both of them and then finished her breakfast to go outside for a walk to get some exercise. There were not many people outside today, she couldn’t see anybody outside, anyway. Something was off, though. She could feel eyes boring into the back of her head. She turned around, but nothing was there. That’s odd. I could’ve sworn someone was behind me. That’s stupid, Casey thought to herself, It’s probably just a squirrel, stop being so paranoid. Casey chose to forget about it and just continued walking.
Casey had now been walking for a quite awhile and she began to get tired. She went through an alleyway, thinking it was shortcut back to her house. Only then did she realize, it was a dead-end. She heard loud, fast footsteps that kept getting closer and closer. She turned around and she saw the one person she never wanted to see again. Rick.
