Casey took in Rick’s features. She could see a bandage on the side of his face, probably where the key had sliced him when Casey tried to run away. “I told you this wouldn’t be our last encounter, my love.” Not again, Casey thought, Why me? I was always a good kid, right? What did I do to deserve this? Casey had a frightened expression on her face, not knowing what Rick might do to her.
“Don’t be scared, darling. It’s only me. I won’t hurt you, unless you try to run away, like last time. I suggest this time you don’t try that or next time, there will be consequences and you will be punished, you won’t be so lucky. If you be a good girl now and follow me, I won’t hurt you.” Casey watched as Rick pulled a knife out of his jacket. Casey was now very scared and she could feel her heartbeat quicken with each second the knife was pressed against her neck.
“Come now,” Rick said. Casey didn’t know what else to do, she reached into her pockets, looking for something she could use to defend herself. All she could feel was some string, a coin, her phone and a pen. That’s it! Casey thought, I can stab him with this pen! Casey gripped the pen and in one swift motion, she stabbed him right in the hand that he was holding the knife in.
“Ah!! You little brat! GET BACK HERE, NOW!!!” Casey didn’t turn around. She kept running. She then remembered she had her phone. She pulled it out and called 911.
“Hello, 911. What’s your emergency?”
“Hi, m-my name is C-casey. I was almost just killed.”
“Okay dear just come down. Breathe. Now can you tell me where you are?”
“Umm... o-okay. I think I-I’m at the corner of Water Street, b-but I was in an a-alleyway with this man. He says his n-name is Rick, but I don’t k-know his last name.”
“Okay, well thank you very much, dear. The police are coming right away. Would you like me to hang-up or stay on the line with you?”
“Stay o-on.”
“Okay. Whatever you want.”
The lady began talking, but Casey just zoned her out. She wasn’t saying anything important, just trying to comfort Casey, like that was going to help. She was scared out of her mind. A couple minutes later, Casey could hear sirens and she told the lady that the police were here and she hung up. Once she saw the police step out of the car, Casey went over and saw them haul Rick into the back of the cop car. Rick looked at Casey one last time, his face was expressionless, but his eyes were narrowed at Casey, like him getting arrested was Casey’s fault. It’s not my fault, Casey thought, You’re the one who went all crazy and told me to come with you. I mean I’m not stupid I’m not gonna hop in the car with a stranger. I have more common sense than that. Casey walked over to the police, Chief Victor, and after answering a few questions they asked, Casey returned home. She saw her parents in the lounge, watching Tv.
“Mom. Dad. There’s something I need to tell you.”
“What is it, dear?” Casey’s mom said. Casey told both her parents the whole story about Rick and how it happened last night, she also told them that she had just been talking to the police.
“Oh my goodness. I can’t believe this happened to you. I can’t believe this man did that to you! Everyday after school you are going to call us or text us telling us you are coming home and that you are okay, alright?” Casey’s mom said.
“If I EVER see this man he will wish he never did this. Where is he!? I need to kill him!”
“Dad, don’t worry. He just got arrested and he shouldn’t be getting out of jail anytime soon and yes, mom. I understand,” Casey said.
