Welcome to Charlie Awards 2020! Our first year celebrating writing together.

I'm Poppy and I'll make sure to help you through each and every stage of your writing. This may be a contest, but what I'd love to do is help you create something you'll be proud of. Writing is about expressing ourselves first and then about gaining readers and followers.

If you want to join me in this journey, keep reading and I promise to do my best in order to offer you a great experience.

The Plan

My plan about this contest is to also make it a learning-by-sharing-ideas experience. I have created some helpful content for you by having in mind my own writing journeys. I'm not saying I am an expert, not at all, but through reading and writing on Wattpad I have spotted a few tips and tricks that make a decent book. I'm talking about page appearance, standard yet helpful vocabulary, etc.

Apart from that I will be sharing a few of my own plot ideas for you to use or just get inspired by. For you who had taken part in my 'Summer Writing School' a couple years ago, you know how it works. For you that hadn't, stay tuned for a big surprise.

This still remains a contest, so for you that are not interested in my ideas or tips, don't worry! You are still very welcome!

Genres Accepted

As I am a Teen Fiction writer myself, a lover of Romance and even Fanfiction sometimes, I have decided for those genres to be our main focus on this contest. Other genres will be accepted too, but as for 'Categories' we'll have:

• Teen Fiction
• Romance
• Fanfiction
• Other

Requirements

I know the writing process can be hard, so I'm not asking for completed books. Again, if you have a completed story you are welcome, but it's not a requirement. What is a requirement is that your book has a cover and at least five chapters in which the reader can tell if it is going to be a good book or not. Each chapter should have at least 1,000 words. Last but not least, you will be sent a form in which you'll have to answer some questions about your storyline, characters and ideas. This will be helpful not only on the judging, but will also help you continuing the story and remembering your thoughts.

Judging

You'll have to wait and see...

Make sure to tag one of your favourite authors for me to check out. Don't spam them though, haha.

How to apply

Just like my every other event, I'm using Google Forms to help me keep track of your applications. I will be asking for your first name, username and book title. The link to the form will be on my bio, conversation wall and in the comments.

Also, you can add our contest's hashtag to your story to make it more noticeable. Use #charlieawards2020

Deadlines

I will be accepting applications from the 26th of July to the 26th of December. If you apply last minute make sure that your book is already uploaded and ready for us to judge. The deadline refers both to the writing and to the applying.

Prizes

After hosting a giveaway I noticed that sending something with the post office is not as easy as I thought. Though, I still would love to give out a real prize this year, other than follows and book ideas. Even if that is a gift card. I will be announcing the prizes later on, but feel free to comment your suggestions. What would you like to receive, either in real life or digitally?

Also, your book will receive a badge as our contest's winner and will be added on a charliegotcaught's reading list.

'Thank you's

Thank you in advance for participating in the first ever Charlie Awards!

Also, thank you in advance to our judges for being so helpful, honest and fair.

I can't wait for you to check out what's in line and hopefully love the idea. I'd be glad to continue the Charlie Awards in the next years and make it a fun experience for all of us.
