"I see humans, but no humanity."
Jason DonohueThe capability of humans to inflict pain onto another being knows no boundaries; but neither does the courage to endure and overcome it.
Contrary to popular belief, Hylia did not start hunting on the typical tragic story of her family being killed by a Supernatural entity; her motives to this day remained a mystery even for the Winchester brothers, whom had known the woman practically their whole lives.
Hylia knew that hunters all over the US gossiped about her unknown background and some even came up with their own stories and theories on who she really was, where she came from and who she was related to. She didn't mind, though; in fact, she quite enjoyed it. Hunters weren't known for being trustworthy of anyone, let alone her, so everyone tried to stay as far away from her path as possible, and she couldn't be more grateful. Aside from the Winchesters, she was a loner. But so were the brothers.
One thing the infamous John Winchester had taught his two sons and the girl was not to trust other hunters and to only rely on each other. Growing up with teachings like this somehow end up being hardwired into the brain; into their very beings. And latter in life, no matter how much they wanted to trust someone outside of them, they couldn't. The father was wise, and all three children looked up to him; so whatever he said was wrong, they trusted his word. At least mostly, that is.
Once the children started growing up, they did start questioning some of the older hunter decisions; Sam, most of all. But ever since they were kids, this one wanted something more than hunting monsters out of his life. And when little Sammy found out that Hylia wanted to become a doctor, he couldn't be more thrilled. Both of them, for that matter.
Behind John's and Dean's back, the two of them started making plans of going to school together; Sam would study to become a lawyer, while Hylia would to become a surgeon. With every town they visited, they'd go together to the libraries to do research on what college would be the better one to attend to, and most importantly, which one they had more possibilities of getting into, because as good as credit card fraud seemed to be working, it wouldn't be enough to pay a higher education. So they made a plan.
A flawed one, that is. But it was enough for them.
"I don't know, Sam. It sounds... too easy." Said 15 year old Hylia, uncertainty in her voice.
"Look, I know it's not the best plan yet, but we still have time to work on the details." Replied an enthusiastic Sam, looking away from the computer screen to her friend.
He could see in her features that she wasn't confident on their plan, and honestly, he wasn't either. But he wanted to have that, and he thought that if he wanted it more than anything else, nothing could stand in his way. So he was going to trust. He was going to believe on their silly little plan until the very end. And he was going to believe for the both of them. Hylia took a deep breath before she replied.
"Ok, let's say it works." She turned from the screen to look at him straight into his eyes. "Let's pretend we somehow manage to convince both Dean AND your father to move to California. We'd still have one problem on our hands."
The younger Winchester was staring at his friend as she talked with a discreet side smile. He sure loved to see her talk; the way she worried about things, specially the one at the moment. They way both of her eyebrows creased as she spoke; how she moved her hands as to express the seriousness of the issue. Of course he found himself smiling unwittingly at her actions, and before he realized it, she had finished talking and he had no clue what she had said to him.
