Chapter 3 - A secret mission.

Liam flew through the air, over the stream and towards the temple. Outside the temple was a small huddle of people, there was Amy, Alice, Broudie, Jordan, and Claire.

Liam landed next to them, but only Amy seemed to greet. Well, if you call a short glance and a nod of the head a greet.

Liam stood next to the others in silence, they were all staring at the sky. He wondered whether he should ask why they were there but he decided it was best to just wait.

The air had a slight chill to it, a very fresh winter morning it was. The air seemed to weigh down on their shoulders, as if it was carrying a huge heavy load but was still trying to stay strong.

After another few minutes of waiting, they had all arrived to gather outside the temple.

To Liam’s relief, Amy eventually broke the silence,

“We are expecting a visitor,” she said, hall “Athena has spoken, she has arranged some way of communicating. It seems there is some tension on Olympus and Zeus has ordered no communication with anyone or anything from anywhere other than Olympus, that’s why we haven’t had contact. We await the arrival of a fellow friend to deliver a letter from Athena. It explains everything, I hope.”

No one dared to ask. It was just stand and wait for whatever they were waiting for. A fellow friend? Who would that be?

“He’s here.” Amy nodded at the sky.

Liam squinted at the sight of a small black blob. This seemed familiar. They were standing outside the temple all drowsy and drained and watching something glide down from the sky.

“Porseus,” Bobby whispered from beside Liam. She’d just turned up with the rest of them.

The dragon swept down from the sky. His dark, black, scaly skin and his deep eyes made him dreadfully scary. Thankfully they knew how small and how friendly Hecate’s pet was, so he wasn’t greeted by some terrified faces.

The dragon landed firmly on the ground, a letter attached to his ankle.

“Thank you Porseus.” Amy drew the outline of a slab of meat, no bigger than the palm of your hand, in mid-air. She held out her hand and the meat appeared. She then threw Porseus the meat and took the letter in return.

“This is it,” Lochlan said.

Porseus curled up into a ball and started chewing at his meat as Amy unravelled the scroll. It was the typical tea-bag stained, dark parchment with ragged, burnt edges, the most common form of paper from Olympus it seemed.
