Chapter 2 Shards Of The Past

Jeff woke up at the living room, he had drunk a lot of bottles last night, his mouth still hurts like hell. He then saw someone floating in front of him, he was... A ghost?

- Who are you?!
- Why did you do it, Jeff?
- What?... No...
- Why did you kill us?

It was his mother talking to him, with her neck cut and her guts being hanged from her stomach. Beside her his father and then, in front of them... Liu.

- I... I...
- Why did you kill me, Jeff? They said together.

Jeff got his hands on his ears and started screaming:

- No... No, you aren't real!!!
- Jeff...
- NO... PLEASE...

Jeff started tearing up, after all these years, he had truly known Sadness... His mother grabbed him by the cheek.

- My little boy...
- Mom... I... I...
- Sweetheart, don't say anything...
-..... Mom... I'm sorry!

He grabbed her and got to his knees, crying... And crying saying:

- I'm so sorry... I'm so sorry...
- Jeff... It's alright...
-......?
- We forgive you... Now relax please, I am with you whatever you choose in your life... Jeffrey...
-..... Mom...
- We love you, Jeffrey... No matter what...

She then began patting his hair.

- You were a confused little boy, that Randy was to blame... You did nothing wrong... I did.. If I never took you to that party, we would all still be a normal family...
-.......

She began fading away.

- Be good Jeffrey... There is still time...
- Wha... What? No! Mom! Don't leave me!!

- No, please!!!

When she faded away, Jeff got to the ground crying over the path he took... He had fucked up, he knew it since the beginning, but now it is too late. Too many people have lost their lives... Jeff got back to his feet, he washed the tears off and grabbed his knife and headed the streets, he couldn't help it. It was the only thing keeping him living. He got to a house and sneak through the window, he didn't usually strike at night, but he needed blood. He got to a little girls room, he sneaked on the closet and waited, and waited, and waited until she came back, she came back to sleep after school, when she slept, Jeff got out of the closet and took out his knife.

He brought it over the girls face, he saw her young and so beautiful face. He wanted to push the knife slowly between her eyes, but that didn't happen, he stopped, he couldn't do it. He didn't have the courage to do it, he noticed her waking up and quickly jumped through the window when she looks at her window nothing was there.

Jeff quickly ran in the forest and with all his might he ran over to a tree again and again and again until he started to bleed. He stopped and thought that killing himself isn't the answer to all of this.

He needed to stop killing, but how? He remembered Ben and went to find him, he surely knew all about this.

Jeff tried to find him all day, but nothing, so he took matters on his own hands. He needed to let go of the past, he opened a lighter, and gasoline and started to burn the house of his parents, crying while watching it burn. The last piece of his past self, gone. With that done, he tried to sleep in the trees and nearly cut his throat. He got some leaves and nearly slept the night when he woke up, the firefighters had already torn down the house.

He needed somewhere to stay, he continued to walk through the woods expecting to find something. Meanwhile Ben got to the burned down house of Jeff, he immediately got searching for any bodies, but thankfully nothing was found. He found his footprints that led to the forest, but that was not an ordinary forest. He ran to the direction of the footprints as fast as he could. Back to Jeff, he was walking in the forest silently. He thought: It is quiet..... Too quiet..... He had his guard up for anything, then he heard a sound coming from the bushes, it sounded like running.

- What was that..? Hey!! Show yourself!!!

No answer, the sound came back but it was like multiplied or something. It sounded like people running around him. Then from out of nowhere a small flie came and flew in Jeff's face, then it... EXPLODED, barely burning his face.

- That was close, what are these things?

Other flies came at him, exploding right and left, and didn't stop coming.

- How am I supposed to fight an opponent so small?

But then Jeff realised that these were bees, he got a feeling that there was a queen nearby. He barely doges another explosion and then he saw something inside the bushes, it was indeed the queen, It was laying eggs very fast. He got blown up back to a tree, another wave came and attacked him.

- Uhh... Fuck I'm seeing double... I can't dodge it...
- JEFF!!!

Ben came out of nowhere and erased all the bees at once. He offered Jeff his hand, he rejected it.

- You know you can at least say thank you.
- The queen is hiding in the bushes. We have to kill her to stop this fight.
- Hear me out Jeff, you can't dodge anymore, I will fly you on top of her and then you take the final blow!
- Okay just do it!
- Give me your hand!
- Witch Bush is it?
-......
- Jeff?
- That one! Now!!
- RAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHH!!!!!

He got Jeff flying and landed on top of the queen instantly killing her.

- It is dead.
- Thank god...
- What are you doing here?
- Trying to find you, it seems I have succeeded tho. Your house burned, what happened?
- I burnt it down.
- Why?
- To eliminate the past.
- Jesus, now what?
- We walk...
- To where?
- I.. I don't know.
-.......
- Besides, we are more ghosts than people. We walk forward, who knows? Maybe we can have our path cleared as we walk.

They didn't say another word, they just walked for hours, suddenly Jeff said :

- What is this forest anyway?
- The Slenderman used to walk these parts, since then, monsters have been walking these forest trying to find him.
- The Slender... What? Who is this guy?
- They say he is a creature with extremely powerful skills, he wears a suit and has white skin with no face and he is about 2.05 in height.
- Jesus...
- We better not run into him...

They continued until they slept in a cave. When it was morning, they got up and head for the nearest town.

- So... We are just walking... Why?
- Because... That's what I do... It relaxes me...
- So how long do you plan on walking?
- Until I can't...

They continued to walk, Jeff wanted to ask many questions, since the only human being he had talked to was Jane, she tried to kill him afterwards. They reach a town after a while, when they go outside, they see a dead body with a letter on it.

- Jeff, who did that?
- You ask me like a know.
- It reads go to sleep you know, that's what you say right?
- Huh?! Give me that!

Jeff was never in this town before, he hasn't killed anybody here, the letter read: "You went to sleep, now you won't wake up".

- Have you just killed somebody while you were drunk or something?
- No.. This is... Jane...
- Jane? Who's Jane?
- I killed her parents and now she wants revenge. It was in my early days as the thing I am now, we have encountered so many times that I lost count, she broke my arm, my back and nearly my neck. We were fighting in a house that was burning, I stabbed her before the house fell on top of us. When I woke up, I was at the hospital to be sentenced to death in prison, at the time I thought she died in the fire. But she came back, I killed all the people in the hospital that day and escaped back to my parent's house.
- Wow... You really have a feud you two.
- I don't know what to do, if I say sorry she will not forgive me.
- You don't have to say anything Jeff, for now.

Then an earthquake happened, trees fell and rocks collapsed, some houses fall apart. When it stopped, Jeff and Ben looked at the distance, they saw red at the sky, like fire. But it wasn't fire, it was hell.

- What the hell happened?!
- I don't know Jeff!
- The sky in the distance is red, what happened?
- Is this the end of the world or something?!
- Who caused that?
-.... Oh no...
- What?!
-.... ZALGO...
