Prologue

He looked off into the distance, and seemed to be dreaming of another world, lands far away from here. He seemed so wrapped up in his thoughts. I didn't dare disturb him either, he seemed so peaceful and at ease, like there wasn't a care in the world.

Except there was reason to care, there was reason to worry. And that reason was the solar flare, it was predicted to happen again in the next year. It didn't frighten me though, and it didn't seem to bother him either; nothing ever bothered him. All I wanted to do was stay in his arms for the rest of my life. And if we survived the sun, I'd hope I could. But there wasn't a thing we could do to stop the sun, so we continued to sit on the bench, in the middle of the park, in the dark, silently. Waiting, but not for something; just waiting.
