Chapter Three
I woke early in the morning. I have tryouts today. I got changed and shook Jane awake.
"Jane! Jane!" I said.
"Amber..." She mumbled. "It's four Thirty!" Jane said.
"No it's not Jane, it's only five."
"Only five?" She said, sitting up. "Only?"
"Yeah. don't you usually wake up around now?" I asked. She shook her head. I shrugged. "Besides. Cheer tryouts are today! We only have Ten Hours left."
"You know what to do..." Jane mumbled. "Just go and do those."
"Oh. That's Smart," I said. "Okay. see ya later!" I turned and ran out, after grabbing my bag hastily. In the hallway, I met Jay.
"Oh. Hi Amber. What are you doing so early?" He asked.
"Tryouts today, sorry, can't talk," I said, stopping and giving him a quick hug then running off to the tourney field. I practiced for about two hours before I finally collapsed. I looked up as I heard the bell for Breakfast. I sighed and tried to stand up. Instead, I just fell down. I heard the bell ring for the final call. "Food is overrated," I thought to myself, and just sat there for a while. I'm not sure how long I sat for. But it must have been a while, 'cuz I saw Jay walk onto the field.
"Hey, Amber. What are you doing here? Didn't you hear the bell?" he asked. I nodded and looked down. "Come on!" He said. I shook my head.
"I can't," I said.
"Why not?"
"My legs won't work," I said.
"Okay...?"
"No really, watch this," I said. And tried to stand up, but just fell down again. "Besides. Food is overrated," I shrugged.
"It's almost class time though," He said. I sighed.
"Okay. Class is also overrated." I said.
"Why is everything overrated all of the sudden?" he asked.
"Cheer isn't overrated! It's underrated." I argued.
"Just try again," he said.
"Fine," I said. And slowly stood up. I winced as I took a step. We slowly made it to class. Jane met us in the hallway.
"I was looking for you guys!" she said. "Class has almost started!" She said.
"I may have practiced too much..." I said. She sighed.
"That's why you weren't at breakfast..." she said. I nodded sheepishly. "Well, come on," she said. And we started going again. We were all late.
"You are all late. One strike." Mr.Dele said. Jane nodded and went to go sit down. Jay started to protest and I had to stay with him for support. Eventually, Mr. Dele gave up and said to just go sit down. The class was so boring. Eventually, the class ended.

After class, I decided that I had done enough practicing for a little while, so I decided to climb a tree. There aren't many on the isle. I figured that it would be just like climbing the mast of Uma's ship just to switch flags for a pink flower/heart one. I smiled in memory of that time. The look on Harry's face was priceless. Especially since he takes down the ladder every night just so that doesn't happen. So, I looked around to find the tallest tree I could find. I smiled as I found one. I ran over and started climbing. I scaled it decently fast. "Jay could have done better." I thought. And with this motivation, I started to climb faster. We have this thing to see who can do this and that better. About halfway up, someone called my name, and I paused on a branch and looked down. A security guard was looking up at me with his arms folded.
"Yeah?" I called down.
"You're not allowed to climb this tree," he said.
"Oh yeah? Why not?" I asked, continuing to climb up.
"It is an ancient oak tree!" he said.
"Well yeah duh! For an oak tree to be this tall, it would have to be ancient!" I said. He didn't respond. I grinned and climbed faster. I heard my name be called again, this time clearly by Jane. I hooked my legs onto the branch I was on and flipped over.
"AMBER!" she called.
"Yeah?" I asked. I loved being upside down
"IT'S TRYOUTS TIME!" she said. I gasped and jumped down. As I did so, I realized that I was pretty high up... I hastily grabbed at one of the passing branches. I stopped, and it hurt. I grimaced a little bit but jumped down again. It wasn't far anymore, so I just plopped down.
"Thanks for coming to find me," I said. "Let's go." she nodded. I was... feeling something that I didn't understand. I had never felt like this before... It was like my stomach was tying itself together into knots. I didn't like it. We eventually made it to the tourney field. I looked at all of the girls that were there and realized that they all wanted to be on the team. There were at least ten girls, they were all warming up. my stomach felt tighter.
"Grate, you are here, finally, We have been waiting for you." Audry said impatiently. I rolled my eyes. "It's your turn first." she said. I was grateful that Jane was one of the judges.
"Now," Aundry said. "Do... a triple backflip." She said. I hesitated but did so. Audry kept naming lots of hard things for me to do, and finally, she said I was done. I nodded slowly and walked off. Jane smiled at me. I smiled back and sat down, out of the way. I watched the rest of the tryouts.

The next day we had chemistry class first. I sighed in relief, for once, goodness class isn't the first one of the day! I grabbed my books and ran to class.
"Miss Amber?" Mr. Dele asked me. I looked up from my sketch book.
"Ye?" I asked.
"What is the solubility content of Magnesium sulfate?" I just looked at him like he was an idiot. I shook my head and laughed softly.
"That is easier than drawing a wobbly line!" I said.
"Then what is it?" he asked.
"4.67." I said dismissively. "Aren't we here to learn stuff?" I asked. I heard some giggles from the back. I grined and picked up my pencil back up. The teacher glared at me. I stared right back. He finally looked away, and I grinned in triumph.
"Evie, and is the atomic weight of silver?" he said.
"Well..." Evie looked at me. "107.8682" I mouthed. She just looked confused. I sighed. "Not very much, I mean, is an atom." she said. I face palmed. She got up, and grabbed her mirror.
"How do I find the atomic weight of silver, let's see... that would be... 106.905 times 0.5200 pulse 108.905 times 0.4800, witch, mr.Delay, would give us, 107.8692." she said, writing the answer down on the chalkboard.
"Well, I guess I forgot that it was a mistake to underestimate a-" he said.
"Villain? Don't, make it again." Evie cut in, tossing the calk. I high fived her on her way back to her seat.
Sorry for the short chapter guys! I've been pretty busy lately, so I'll get another one out soon, hopefully faster and longer.
