In the country we worship a goddess is the same country women are objectified. Wear a crop top, you're showing too much. Don't wear a saree, you're not sanskari enough. If you're dark skinned put on creams and makeup, if you're fair skinned go show off, be proud. Don't put on too much makeup you're not a model, but you need some makeup you're ugly without it, go drink down your sorrows. Oh wait I'm sorry women can't drink. If you do your honor will sink. If we wear tight clothes they say "stop showing off your curves", if we wear loose clothing then "please dress like a girl". As a 7 year old I was able to see the misogyny in our system. I would say "would you act the same if it was your mother, sister, daughter" but a relation shouldn't be the reason you realize right from wrong. What is our film industry? Item songs in every movie, are you kidding me? And our very smart generation turns them into party anthems making other religions think half naked girls and drunk guys is apart of our tradition. I'm sorry to the aunties and uncles reading this, but your opinions don't matter to me. I'll wear what I want, I'll act how I want, I'll do what I want. I'm sorry for the parents who don't agree with this because they aren't letting their kids see the real world. I'm sorry for the girls who didn't have the courage to stand up for themselves before, they could've been somewhere else today. Lastly I'm sorry for the girls who killed themselves due to the disrespect... you deserved better.
