[Its been two week since the outbreak. Jack and Ian never found us. Neither had Selina or any of our friends. We don't know what happened to them or the others to make matters worse mom got a fever a really bad fever. Dad is usually out looking for food. Mom was only getting worse. We'd seen what happens when the fever hit you. I just don't think my dad wanted to believe it. ]
Lily: Hi baby
[I turn my head]
Athena: Hi, mom...how are you feeling?
Lily: mm thirsty. Tired
[I grabbed some water and gave it to her. We then hear dad]
Nick: How are you
Lily: Tired
Athena: We can't stay here we have to go before more geeks come."
Lily: she's right we have to go
Nick: Okay, let's go before it gets dark.
[So, we headed off to a new shelter. Dad was carrying mom while I carried the stuff we had. We eventually found a house to stay in. We settled down and then mom started coughing blood out
again she coughed for a few more minutes a fell asleep.]
Athena: She's dying, dad.
Nick: She's just sick. She'll get better
Athena: We've seen what happens when you get bit or the fever hits. I don't want her to come back as one of those things she doesn't deserve to suffer like she is.
Nick: She's going to get better
[He then walked away. While I scoffed in disbelief.]

[Dad's been gone for a while mom woke up]
Lily: You're right
[I turn to look at her]
Lily: I'm not getting better. It hurts everything. Baby, I know it's wrong, but you have to I'm running out of time. You will be okay I know you will. I wrote down everything you need to know in that journal we found. And we've talked about some of the stuff. Athena, I want you to know that I'm so proud of you. I wish we had all the time in the world, but we don't. I want you to promise me some things.
Athena: Anything mom."
Lily: when we meet again in a very, very long time. You better have good stories, okay? Use your voice. Have adventures. Have Hope. Don't shut yourself out. If given the chance find love and embrace it. But most importantly be every bit of yourself because the best of me is in you.
[I started crying, not wanting to believe that it had come to this. Not wanting to believe that I had to be the one to do this.]
Lily: I love you. I love you so much. Mama loves you. My baby girl.
Athena: I love you too mommy.
[She then closed her eyes. I grabbed the gun my dad left and aimed it at her head. My hand was gripping the gun. I shut my eyes. My finger refused to pull the trigger. I kissed my mom.]
Athena: We love you, mom.
[Then I pulled the trigger, and she was gone. I killed my mom. I killed her. Everything was real. And all I felt was numb.]
[Next thing I knew dad was here]
Nick: Cassandra! WHAT DID YOU DO!
Athena: What needed to be done.
[He looked at me in anger]
Athena: We should bury her and leave quickly.
Nick: Yeah
