A/N: I used to hate Author's Notes, now I'm doing them lol. Anyway, if you noticed I spelled Gryffindor as 'Griffendore' its been fixed now, sorry about that.

Also, I know its stupid to set an update schedule and then break it the next week but I was camping, unexpectedly, and there was no service.

Severus Snape

The annual beginning of year staff meeting was probably the dullest thing he was forced to attend repeatedly over the course of his life. It always occurred the morning after students were sorted because Dumbledore was a nosy bastard who liked to have every student placed in the house he wanted them in. If a student didn't fit into Dumbledore's game of chess, they were automatically "suspicious." Especially if they were in Slytherin.

This year Dumbledore's suspicions fell on Ms. Hermione Granger, a muggle-born Slytherin. Dumbledore had wanted the girl in Gryffindor in order to be something of a guide to his precious brat, Harry Potter. Though Dumbledore had expected she might be a Ravenclaw due to her studious nature, he had not accounted for her being a Slytherin. As a result, the usually dull staff meeting morphed into an hour of torturous hypothesizing by Dumbledore.

Finally, Minerva spoke up, "Albus, you're overreacting. The girl is extraordinarily bright. She was likely bullied in school and just wants to prove her bullies wrong. Now stop this foolishness immediately. She's eleven, the only reason she would 'go dark' as you keep putting it is if you pushed her towards it with this madness!"

Severus sighed and rolled his eyes. Dumbledore was getting too old and paranoid to continue functioning as the headmaster of a school. There was a reason most muggles retired in their 60's. Every time a genius came around, Dumbledore assumed they'd be the next Voldemort. It was getting annoying and infantile. It was almost as if he was beginning to get upset that there were people in the world who were more intelligent than he was.

"Albus you haven't even spoken with the child, there's no need to start prophetizing our doom," he said dryly, "Now if you'll excuse me, I have work to do."

With that, he stood up and turned on his heel before striding out of the room, cloak billowing behind him. Idly, Severus wondered if it would be a good thing if Granger turned out to be an evil mastermind. Maybe she'd finally be the one to kill Dumbledore or, at least, knock him down a few notches. With that thought, he entered the Great Hall for breakfast.

Hermione

Daphne, Tracey, and I walked up to breakfast together at around seven. As we began eating, a tall man who was wearing black robes walked down the Slytherin table passing out time tables.

"Who's he?" I asked.

"That's Professor Snape, he's our Head of House and teaches Potions," replied Tracey, "You might have issues with him due to pureblood politics. Even if he likes you he won't be able to show it, you remember that prat from last night, Malfoy? Professor Snape is his godfather."

"Oh," I said, "How disappointing, he looked intelligent."

Daphne snickered before quieting down as Professor Snape came over to our end of the table.

"Davis, Granger, Greengrass, your time tables," he said with a slight sneer as he handed them to us, "I expect you to be punctual and arrive at all of your classes on time. If you are late I will know, and you will suffer my displeasure."

He then turned on his heel and marched off.

"Well, that wasn't bad at all. At least we know he's probably not going to be worse to me than he is to you," I said, "Plus, surprisingly, I did get intelligent vibes off of him, maybe Malfoy's father is smarter than his son."

We laughed at this before reviewing our schedules. Breakfast was served every day from 6:00 - 9:00, lunch was from 11:45 - 1:30, and dinner was from 5:30 - 7:00.

(A/N: I tried okay, the Hogwarts 'schedule' makes no sense, so I made one that did.)

"Are all of our schedules the same?" I asked.

Daphne, who was sitting between Tracey and I glanced at our schedules before replying affirmatively. After breakfast, we hurried down to Potions and waited for class to start.

A/N: Okay so I know this is both very short and very late, but I'm having difficulties trying to figure out how I want to make this work. I know what I want to happen later, but I don't know how to link what's already happened to what I want to happen if that makes any sense.

Anyway, to the Americans out there, Happy Independence Day!

Hope you like the story so far!
