Chapter 8 - Chief Unser's Visit

Jax pulls the door shut and strolls confidently down the hall into the main room, the aftermath of the party the night before is still visible, there are people sleeping everywhere crow eaters naked bodies draped over members in various stages of undress, beer bottles on every flat surface, but sitting at the bar is Chief Unser, being served a cup of coffee by Chuckie, a guy the Club acquired as a favor for a member who is in prison. 

 Jax approaches Unser, "Good morning chief what Can I do for you this morning?"

Shaking his head, "it's not good Jackson, spent the morning over at St.Thomas, seems someone decided to break into Joe's last night and they roughed Katie up pretty bad, she still unconscious been through 2 surgeries already have several more they that she needs. But the bad news is Joe took off early last night, said he walked out just after you guys did. And well it looks like you boys were the last ones to see her. Joe wasn't much help. So I gotta ask do you know anything? Where did you go when you left?"

"You're kidding right. We came straight here we had the wake for Donny last night, so we came here and I've been here all night and by the looks of things so has everyone, I mean none of us would want to hurt Katie. Was it a robbery gone bad?" Jax replied as he runs his hand through his hair.

"The register was full, and Katie's purse was under the bar, her tip money was in her pocket, but the beating she took, Jackson it was awful. Do you know if she was seeing anyone?" Unser states in a business like tone

"You know that girl I don't think she has dated anyone since Timmy Whipple, but that's ancient history, I'm pretty sure she has been babysitting for Timmy and his wife on her days off. But I can ask around and see what I can find out. I'll let you know." Jax says dismissively walking back to the bedroom.

Unser calls after him "and Jackson, if you find out anything Please let Me know."

"Ok will do." Jax calls as he opens the bedroom door, Juice is still standing by the dresser, he moves towards the door, once he is in the hallway Jax pulls the door closed and says to Juice "katie from Joes is in the hospital beat almost to death, I have a few ideas, but get a few guys and go check it out, also get someone to check out that Honda I had towed in here last night, not only mechanically but look for trackers, and Juicy watch your back."

Juice looks from Jax to the partially closed door, "she got something to do with this?"

"Not sure yet, but go check out the bar and Katelyn here checked in to the motor inn, see if there is anyone else around Charming that doesn't seem to belong. As for me I've got some ideas myself." He smiles and walks back into the bedroom closing the door.
